Do I really need a new print head - or should I buy a new printer?

Printer keeps telling me I have a faulty print head. Sometimes it prints anyway...but then the message returns. Is it worth it to go buy a new print head? (Don't even know where to source that) Or should I just pick up a new printer.... help!

I believe the printer u are using is a bit old,,the head is worn out and its natural..every hardware equipment has a eol{end of life},,u can print but the quality of the print will deteriorate with time..

i dnt know the model no,, but i think it wont be wise to buy a print head than buy a new printer,,reasons

1.new printers are really chaper than old ones and the price ratio of buying a new printer wud b better than changing the head

2.if even u buy the printer head it is complicated to install it and if correct allignment is not achieved on the plane head then the whole printer is useless

my advice:use the old printer till u get a satisfactory printout,,then buy a new printer

best of luck,,keep me posted,,giva good rating

I have a canon mp600 printer and i really need to print some b&w documents, but because i dont have all the cartridges installed (threw them away, because they were empty)i keep getting the u043...

No. All the cartridges need to be installed to print. Also it is better to keep empty cartridges in the printer rather than throw them away. It will prevent the ink from drying in the print head and ruining it. Canon print heads are replaceable but you can be just as well of buying a new printer if it goes.

The red ink will not print regardless of maintenance tasks performed.

Hi.
You may need to replace the print head.
Sometimes the print head can be fixed leaving it in cleaning solution for a couple of days.
Before attempting repair I suggest to call Kodak at the number listed on the manual.

MP830 PGBK does not print, tried new cartridges and usual cleaning etc, nothing. Bought new print head but still does not print. Other colours Bk,Y,M,C all ok. Have tried 'Auto Alignment' but this fails...

the printhead probably needs to be taken out of printer and cleaned.

just pop the ink cartridges out, then remove the print-head, fill a sink full of warm water, and swirl the print head around in the warm water. Blow through the color slits on the print head into the sink full of water it will get messy. empty the sink full of colored warm water.
rinse and repeat till your are satisfied its clean. dry it off with a cloth towel you don't care for, because it will get messy and covered in ink.
put your printer back together and it should work...it may take a few times...but i got my printer 'PGBK ink cartridge' working again doing this. or you can spend 100 bucks and buy a new print-head...my printer is a mp830 it came apart easily no tools or force needed... good luck and don't break your printer...its easy.

Printer slow after putting in a refilled cartridge

Sounds like the TSR is out on your cartridge. The TSR is the heat sensor for your print head. If the TSR goes out it cannot tell the printer that the temp at the print head is at ok levels. So the printer assumes the print head is really hot and at risk of fusing its nozzles so it prints really slow (the faster the printing the hotter the print head gets). It is possible, but not very likely, that the ink in the cartridge is of such low quality that it is not cooling the print head properly as it flows through the nozzles. Thus the TSR tells the printer to print really slow so you don't burn up nozzles. If you got this cartridge refilled at a store or on-line I would return it and get your money back. I recommend Cartridge World for refills because if this happens to one of their refills they will give you a new refill at no charge.

Black drops out. Prints as blue edges, sometimes

The printer has determined the quality of the work you are attempting to print to be substandard.

This is a standard feature on these printers.

We are very unhappy with our Kodak 5100 printer. The most immediate problem is that it stopped printing. We tried changing the print cartridges, plugging and unplugging and still get only very faded...

it is because of the faulty or short tracked print head.better to buy a new hp printer rather than a kodak print head.hp printer is always a better choice

Canon Pixma IP4000 - will not print. Did maintenance cleaning and the 3E was not showing solid lines. Cleaned many times and finally took out ink & print head and cleaned off a bit and now won't show...

I'm not sure what you did. We have 3 MP780 and IP6000 and 9000 printers. The frequent problem have is streaking usually w/ refilled cartridges and even new cartridges. This is what we usually do:
1. Take the printhead out and dip it in 1-2mm depth hot water. Hopefully the water changes color and clears up the clog. Keep the Circuits dry. Wipe off excess water when you are done.
2. For really difficult clogs, if the hot water doesn't work I find a small rubber hose and syringe that encloses(meaning air tight) the mesh in the printhead where the ink goes in. I then pump air in to clear out the clog.
3. Since you have to do it for the Black 3e, you might as well do it also for all the others to make sure they are not clogged.
Make sure when you pump in the air the syringe is not touching the mesh in the printhead. If these don't work then you can try borrow the printhead of another printer and testing it out. If it works then you need to buy the printhead. If Canon has stock, you should get it fast. If not, and you really need to print either go to a printing service or buy a new printer. Good luck.

Print Head install

Hello Dear,
The Print Head in your printer is physically damaged and so even though it is present and installed it will not be detected by the Printer, you need to purchase and install a new print head for your printer.

Print black & white?

Your printer will keep using the color cartridges to keep the printing head working even if you don't print in color. If you need to print only in greyscale, buy a cheap HP printer (Printer only, not a PSC) and remove the color cartridge.

Brother MFC 210C All-in-One Ink Cartridges

near empty message is a reminder: plz buy a new cart (but do NOT change until EMPTY). You still can print.

the ink left in an empty cart keeps the system alive when some ink is neede for the automatic cleaning cycle.
If you print until this cart is really empty air will get into the tubes and ph. That leads to faulty printings.
brother had made sure that the amount of printable ink can be consumed. The rest is for service.
