Question about Sony KDF-E60A20 60 in. LCD HDTV
Shortly after powering on my screen goes black and the sound goes out. The power light flashes a while then it comes back on for a minute. It does this in a cycle. Is it my bulb going out? The lamp indicator light never flashes or lights up. Tech said it may be the lamp.
Remove the lower front panel by removing the 2 large round screw heads at the lower back corners, one on each side. Remove the retaining screw on the right side of the metal horizontal retaining strip in front of the bulb holder, remove bulb retaining screw in the upper left corner of the bulb holder. Pull the bulb holder out towards you and check for dust build up on the top screen on the bulb casing, if there is an abundance of dust it will restrict the airflow across the face of the bulb which causes it to heat up and turn off. Once the dust has been cleaned your bulb should now work as it should without a problem.

I had this problem and ordered a new replacement
XL2200 lamp from Sony and that fixed it. By the way, the lamp installs
from the front so there's no need to pull your TV out from the wall.
Look at you manual, it is accurate in this respect. My lamp only lasted
about 15 months. It costs $200 plus about $16 to ship. You can order
direct from Sony on line service.

Mine is doing the same, but I noticed that this issue happens when there are high white tones in the screen (explosions, essurance commercials). It is not random in my set, it's always related to brilliant shots in the screen. Tech support will come tomorrow to replace power board (voltage spike), then I'll show him my observations to get his feedback.

Tips for a great answer:
Mitsubishi TV troubleshooting
Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.
For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.
Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:
12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected
