Question about Computers & Internet
Hi I have a Lenovo PC K430 that I bought in april of this year, every thing was working great, till two days ago when I turned it on, the display says that can't find any signal from the pc, I reset the HDMI cable and nothing, replaced the HDMI cable and nothing, used a 19 pins port cable and nothing, I noticed that the Hard disc light lit for about five seconds every time I turn the pc on and then there is no more activity even if I insert a CD or DVD the screen still not sensing any signal fron the PC, when the pc was ok normally started with a high noise and quiets after few seconds, now this noise continues as pc is on and won't initiate.
Sounds like your power supply is having trouble. Is the inside filled with dust bunnies? Get some canned air and blow out the inside of the machine. Make sure all the fans spin freely. Once in a while the video card will need to be pulled out and reseated to reestabilish electrical connection. At the least, clean and replug... at the most, a new power supply.

Sounds like an extended desktop. have you tried dragging an open window (ie. internet explorer webpage) to the top, right, bottom, AND left? When you get to one of the edges, move it like you are moving it off and it should move to the other screen. You can change your setting to 'duplicate' your desktop in your video settings.

SOURCE: Acer Aspire not booting
I'm inclined to believe something is going on with the DVD drive, perhaps a I/O cable or driver issue, it just seems like what you said about the drive sounding like it's trying to read is a clue, what I would try if you have not already ,is since you said you can get to get to the Bios usually the default for boot sequence is CD/DVD drive first unless you change it, see if you can change the boot sequence from DVD drive first to HDD first and see if you can bypass it, then it might just boot, if that works then that was the cause,I see no other reason why the Drive should be trying to read other than the boot sequence. if not then it might be more complicated and could be a hardware issue somewhere,
Hoep this helps.

If the issue occurs in the safe mode, then I'm suspecting a failure of the LCD backlight. (It warms up and quits) Also see if video stays on using an external monitor. If it does, then the LCD is most likely failing.
If video goes out on an external monitor as well, then the Video card is failing due to overheating. Make sure all vents are free of dust (Clean with canned compressed air) and the all fans are functional (Run the fan test in diagnostics) If fans check up, then video card is failure point. If fans fail diags, replace affected fan 1st
