Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies

Open Question

Why can't Capture Perfect open a PDF that was last used in Acrobat Reader?

I want to insert new pages in an existing PDF file that was created by Capture Perfect. However, Capture Perfect will not open the PDF; error says can't open PDF not created in Capture Perfect (although it WAS created by Capture Perfect, but since may have been opened in Acrobat Reader).

SOURCE: Acrobat and Canon DR-9080C not working

You are right, it is driver related issue. Acobat 9 has more features that may not be compatible with the existing driver. may be you can use CapturePerfect and directly create PDF and then use the Optimising features of Acrobat 9. Ofcourse you have to do it twice, but you can use the 'batch' process and do it automatically.

SOURCE: won't scan to PDF with Capture Perfect 2.0; Error

There are two versions 2.0 and 2.3. One of them converts to PDF without PAFCV2.dll load error. Try and down load from http://software.canon-europe.com/software/0022439.asp?model= Incase this doesnot work, you need the other version.
I generally dont do direct conversion to PDF. I clean the images, create multipage and then convert to PDF and hence don't know which version works. I have both versions. Incase the downloaded version does not work, pls send a mail to smohan54@yahoo.com I shall send you a copy.

How do i download Adobe Acrobat x Standard for Free?

Acrobat reader is free. Acrobat pro is not free.
There are other free programs to create PDF's. Really, Adobe is offering the readers for all systems for free. Be aware sometimes PDF files are password protected. You even can't read them with acrobat reader, if you don't have the password. Just visit the Adobe website to download a free version for your system.
Now you can get the 11 version here:

I assume that you mean Adobe Acrobat reader. First of all make sure that you already have installed this program. Go at start - programs - and browse all programs to locate that Adobe Acrobat Reader existing. A good idea is to open it in order to check that it's fully working. In case of a problem download it from this official link. Since you are sure for the Acrobat Reader's existence, right click at any pdf file (these type of files open with Acrobat Reader) - choose open with - go at the bottom of the new window "choose program" - at the new window select Adobe Acrobat Reader (in case it is not available click on browse and navigate at the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader x.x\Reader, select the file AcroRd32, hit open - check the box for "open this kind of files always with the same program" - hit OK and you are ready. From now on every time you will double click at a pdf file the Acrobat Reader will open this file.

What is acrobat reader?

Adobe Acrobat is a family of computer programs developed by Adobe Systems, designed to view, create, manipulate and manage files in Adobe's

Plug-in from Adobe. It reads documents in PDF format on any platform.

A program from Adobe that lets you capture a document and then view it in its original format and appearance

Adobe has changed the names of the products in the Acrobat family regularly, also splitting-up, joining, or discontinuing products. Between version 3 and 5, Standard and Professional versions were one product simply called Adobe Acrobat.
As of October 2009[update], the current main members of the Adobe Acrobat family are:
64px-adobe_reader.svg.png magnify-clip.pngAdobe Reader 8/9 Icon
  • Adobe Reader 9 (Windows, Mac and Unix)
  • Adobe Acrobat 9 (Windows & Mac only; no Unix version)
    • Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard
    • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro
    • Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended (includes Adobe Presenter)

The latest version
Version 9.0 Adobe Acrobat 9.0 was released July 2008:[10][11]
  • PDF version 1.7 (and prior) supported. There are Adobe extensions to PDF 1.7 for Acrobat 9.
  • Product Family includes: Acrobat Standard 9 (Windows only), Acrobat Pro 9, Acrobat Pro Extended 9 (Windows only).
  • Pro Extended Version includes Adobe Presenter and the features of Acrobat 3D.
  • The ability to create Acroforms was restored to Acrobat Standard in this release (in versions 6 through 8, Acrobat Professional was required).
  • Enable real-time collaboration of PDFs with synchronized document views and chat.
  • Improved Web Capture for capturing entire web pages or just some parts into PDF.
  • Integration with acrobat.com to enable storage and sharing of PDF files.
  • Personalize a PDF Portfolio with customizable templates for navigation and branding.
  • Compare and highlight the differences between two versions of a PDF document.
  • Insert FLV (Flash) or H.264 video for direct playback in Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader.
  • Convert a variety of video formats to FLV for playback in PDF.
  • Create PDF maps by importing geospatial files that retain metadata and coordinates.
  • OCR PDFs (Paper Capture) using ClearScan. Adobe ClearScan technology creates custom Type1-CID fonts to match the visual appearance of a scanned document after optical character recognition (OCR). ClearScan does not replace the fonts with your system fonts or substitute them by Type1-MM (as in Acrobat 8 and earlier versions), but uses these newly created custom fonts. The custom fonts are embedded in the PDF file (this is obviously mandatory). If the OCR does not recognize a word with enough confidence, then the image (bitmap) of the word is shown in the PDF and the text is put above but hidden (same as what is made in "Searchable Image" mode).
  • Adobe Reader 9 drops support for Adobe Reader Extensions 5 and 6 which permit Adobe Reader client software to save changes to filled-in forms in PDFs. Adobe Reader Extensions 6.1 and newer are still supported. Legacy PDFs will still be viewable, however they will open with the warning "This document enables Reader capabilities that are no longer enabled in this Reader version."[12]
  • On March 10, 2009, Adobe Reader 9.1 was released which addresses a number of customer workflow issues and a critical security vulnerability while providing more stability.[13]
  • On May 12, 2009, Adobe Reader 9.1.1 was released which addresses two critical security vulnerabilities.[14]
  • On June 9, 2009, update version 9.1.2 was released which addresses a number of critical security vulnerabilities.[15]
  • On July 31, 2009, update version 9.1.3 was released which addresses a number of critical security vulnerabilities.[16]
  • On October 14, 2009, Adobe Acrobat 9.2 was released (added support for Windows 7 x86/x64 and fixed many security issues).[17]
  • On January 12, 2010, Adobe Reader 9.3 was released which addresses a number of critical security vulnerabilities.[18]
  • On February 16, 2010, Adobe Acrobat 9.3.1 was released which addresses two critical security vulnerabilities.[19]
  • On April 13, 2010, Adobe Acrobat 9.3.2 was released which addresses several critical security vulnerabilities.[20]

How do I scan a multi-page document into one pdf file? Every time I try, the machine creates a separate pdf for each page.

From the University of Texas. This document shows how to combine PDF files using Word or Word Perfect.

Combining Multiple PDF Files Into One These instructions assume you chose to label the first of your multiple PDF files "etd.pdf" as suggested in "Creating PDF Files in Word or Wordperfect for Windows".
  1. Open your "etd.pdf" file in Adobe Acrobat.
  2. Select Insert Pages from within the Document menu.
    [view step 2 illustration]
  3. A Select File To Insert popup box will appear. Highlight the file you wish to append to etd.pdf and then select the Select button. (this process will be easiest if you work your way from front to back through the dissertation, appending successive sections to the first file, "etd.pdf")
    [view step 3 illustration]
  4. An Insert popup box will appear. If you are following the suggestion under Step 3, select the After option under Location. Under Page determine exactly where you wish the selected file to be inserted. If you are assembling the dissertation section by section, you will want the file to be inserted after the last page of the current section. In this case, select Last. Select OK to complete this step.
    [view step 4 illustration]
  5. Check the updated "etd.pdf" file within Exchange to make sure this is proceeding in the order you want.
  6. Continue to add subsequent files in the same way.
  7. When you are finished, exit Exchange and save the file under its original name, "etd.pdf".
Hope this helps. I saw nothing in the printer's manual about doing this.

Also Adobe Acrobat will do it also.

Good Luck

Using adobe acrobat professional - copy a pdf picture and paste into a pdf.

You can't just do it. Acrobat is not a document creation program.
You can either convert the picture to a PDF file and then append or insert that file in an existing PDF or you can use other program, such as an word processor to create a page in which you include the image and then convert to PDF and append or insert that page in an existing PDF

Getting a message about and error on page.

Dear Wendy,

This can happen because of multiple reason:

a) It isn't your fault. The file publisher has not correctly made pdf or its corrupt and won't work on your system because all pdf files can be opened in almost all versions.

b)You might like to check your adobe 8.1 settings for complete installation. Have you correctly installed the program. Also check if you are able to other pdf files on your system or not.

c) you can also try an older version of acrobat, which i doubt should affect the problem.

Finally check the file extensions and password protection problems.

If that was helpful please press solved.
