Question about Heating & Cooling

Danesmoor slpj20-25 Arrived after being away when oil had run out but refilled. Boiler ran for a day then the boiler stopped and lockout happened. When we tried to restart there was a humming sound and then lock out occured again. We cannot now restart it. Any ideas?

The actual final solution was to replace the fuel valve/solenoid following which the boiler has run without failure.
The conclusion was that the fuel valve solenoid was ok when cold but when heated up had some sort of electrical breakdown in its coils, causing the fuel valve to fluctuate until the boiler locked out.

Hi. We have a potterton netaheat profile boiler and the pressure has dropped so low nothing will work. I know it needs to be recharged but don't know how to do it. The only visible pipes are on the top...


The cold water feed to the boiler is where you will find the refill point which should be at the base of the boiler where all the pipes come in

So you are saying it will run and shut off but NOT go into lockout? What is the boiler temp? Do you have a low water cutoff ?

Potterton statesman oil central heating boiler the household oil ran out and i had it refilled and now the lock out button is illuminated i believe i have to press the burner reset button but not sure...


Hello my name is Heath it will be my pleasure to assist you. You will have to push and hold the reset in on the side of the control for 15 seconds. But you will also have to bleed the air from the system from the 3/8 nipple on the lower left side once the lockout has been released and the motor starts.

you could have a problem with a temperature sensor.
it would not be the flame sensor since it could not wait 6 mins to sense that there is flame in the unit.
could be a temperature sensor problem where it is sensing a temperature which could be correct but it is sending a wrong signal to the controller to turn off the flame and start another cycle.

Check how all three "on/off" sequences are programmed firsrt, then all other programmable options. Make sure sliders are in the sliders are in the correct possition. If it becomes more complicated than launching a space shuttle, reset it. Unless your house is a mansion keep it simple with just day and night modes. the money you save wont even cover the cost to fix the hole you punch in the wall trying to do fancy programming ;-D
