Console will not load games

My Nintendo 64 (recently bought off eBay) does not seem to recognize the games that I try to load. I insert the game pak, turn on the machine, my television turns black, but no game will load. What is the problem?

Yup it sounds like the mem cart for the console has gone bad then so it will need a new mem cart or try cleaning the gamepacks out with qutips and rubbing alcohal or put them in half way instead because sometimes the console will read it better half way.

Either you got cheated or the inside of the console is just a bit dusty. That's all the help I can give.

Nintendo 64 - Game Pak Troubleshooting
Note: It is possible that the problem you have may be game play related. For example, if you cannot defeat a particular enemy, or are missing an item you need to complete an area, the problem is likely game play related and there is nothing wrong with your game. Please check our game play help for assistance.
Insert the Game Pak into the system. The Game Pak label should be facing the front of the Nintendo 64.
Make sure the Game Pak firmly clicks down into place.
Remove all accessories (with the exception of the N64 Expansion Pak) to see if the Game Pak works correctly without the accessory. If the game does work correctly once the accessory is removed, then the game pak and the accessory may not be compatible. Check the game pak instruction manual.
Check the instruction manual for the game to see if it requires any special accessories, such as the Expansion Pak, to operate.
Check the list of specific game issues to see if there are any known problems for the game you are playing.
Due to the age of the system, we no longer offer factory repairs directly from Nintendo. Please click here to find out what options are available for repair or replacement of your product.

How do you erase memory from the memory pak

  • Plug an N64 controller into the "Player 1" port on the Nintendo 64.
  • 2 Place the N64 Controller Pack into the memory card slot on the Nintendo 64 controller.
  • 3 Insert a Nintendo 64 game into the cartridge slot on the N64.
  • 4 Hold down "Start" on the N64 controller.
  • 5 Turn the Nintendo 64 on via the "Power" switch on the device. After the console loads, the Controller Pack menu will appear on the screen.
  • 6 Release the "Start" button on the N64 controller.
  • 7 Browse through the saves listed, using the N64 controller's directional pad.
  • 8 Highlight the game you want to erase.
  • 9 Select the "Delete" option. The pages that were occupied by the game save will be erased from the Controller Pack.
  • 10 Repeat Steps 7 though 9 until you're finished erasing pages on the Controller Pak. Restart the N64 if you wish to play the game that was inserted into the device, or turn the Nintendo 64 off if you are done using the console.

No, you dont need to buy a ds card, ds card is another word for a ds game, also game pak is also another word for a game boy advance game. so don't worry about it and enjoy your ds : )

How do transfer packs work? Will it work on a nintendo DS?

A Game Pack is the game cartridge you insert to play a game. GameBoy Advance Games are not compatable with the Transfer Pak. The Transfer pack and Pokemon Stadium 2 only support the following: Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver and Crystal versions. No Ruby will not work with the transfer pak as you will not be able to insert it, and the software would not pick it up.

Its most likely the controller. When you put in the pack is it loose? You could try cleaning the GB game and trying again.
