Remove all the screws, slowly pry apart. You will see where the ribbon wire goes from screen and slips inside the circuit board. You can just slowly pull it out.

Where did you end up finding a screen? I would really like to know. Have been searching for one for a dear friend and haven't located one yet.

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. I purchased a 4 GB SDHC card for my kodak easy share dx6440. The camera keeps rejecting it because 'it is not formatted'. I formated it and it still does not read it. is the DX6440 limited to SD 2GB? ...

The DX6440 uses SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and won't work. You are limited to SD cards 2GB and smaller.

Downloading from my camera through my port

A friend of mine was having the same problem and come to find out, she was going onto the Kodak website to transfer the pictures. I told her that she doesn't have to do that, just press the button from the dock (sometimes you have to hold it down for a few seconds) and a box opens up in the right hand corner on your computer screen, click transfer all. sometimes I have to play with it a few times for it to go. I have had the DX6440 for almost 5 years and have had good luck with it. As a matter of fact, I love it. I recently bought an Olympus E-Volt 500 and I like my little Kodak better, especially for close ups. I hope maybe this solution will help, I know it did help my friend. She was going crazy and that's all it was. Now my Olympus, I have to transfer from the site. Hope this helps!

How to replace battery cover for Kodak Dx6440

We had the same problem dropping the camera, and ordered a pair of new battery covers. I was able to install this by carefully removing the cover screws and slipping the pins into their slots. I am sure you probably got it by now.

This problem was before the one posted about start and then die. The "expert" response posted was worthless. This whole website seems to be a collection of anecdotal semi-worthless stuff.

Perhaps other topics may contain more relevant valuable commentary.

Stuck :(

My Kodak DX6440 did the same thing. After sending it to Kodak's third-party repair (as per Kodak), they called to say it was not fix-able. Kodak's response was "No parts available" and offered 10% off list price of a refurbished camera. ...Big sports ...Way to keep customer loyalty If you choose Kodak, the cameras are good but buy them knowing they are a disposable item.
