Question about Sub-Zero 561 / F

Ice Maker stopped working

The freezer door was left ajar for several hours, the freezer frosted over and then the ice maker stopped working.

I defrosted the water line and that did not help.

How do you tell if the water valve needs to be replaced?

Thank you

    Thank you for your help.
I defrosted the freezer yesterday afternoon and the ice maker still is not working.
Before, when the icemaker worked, I could hear water pumped into the freezer, now I do not hear any water sounds...

You need to defrost the freezer. By the door being ajar, there was excessive ice build up on the coil that was not removed during a system defrost resulting in a blocked coil. This caused the temperature to rise in the freezer above twelve degrees that is why the ice maker stopped.

Turn the unit off and remove cover over coil, then use a hair drier.

My Samsung freezer has stopped giving out ice

Does the ice bin have any ice in it? If not has the ice maker arm been raised up to the stop position? If so lower it, this will start the ice maker again, and after several hours the ice bin will have enough ice to be dispensed from the door.

Ice maker not working....freezer door had been ajar and freezer frosted up...now the ice maker will not make ice

With the extra frost which is also on your evaporator it reduces the efficiency of the freezer. Put the unit into a defrost cycle, wait for it to enter a defrost cycle on it's on which should be at least once a day or cut if off, open the doors and let it thaw out.

If there is a reset button on your ice maker try pushing it. Many ice makers have two holes for reset. A general rule of thumb is if the ice maker fingers are stopped in a slightly vertical position then your ice maker unit is working. If the fingers are stopped anywhere else then it needs some sort of attention or replaced. Make sure there is water, or ice in the ice maker tray, if not then the problem is with water supply.
