SOURCE: No Sound In Home Theater with Dish HDTV DVR Dual Mode Remote Connection

I have a high definition Polaroid tv which I bought in 2007. I have it connected to Dish tv. It worked fine at first. Now when I use the Dish tv remote, the television won't power up. The red light, which appears when the television is off turns blue when I attempt to turn the tv on, but the screen stays black. Why won't the television come on anymore?

SOURCE: Apple TV and Bose Home Theater

I had the same problem.
I could not get HDMI to HDMI to work.

i fixed it (work around), by connecting ATV HDMI to DVD HDMI port on V30, i then connect L&R to AUX.  I set the Bose remote for controlling ATV to AUX.
so to use ATV with Bose remote i know press DVD, this gives me the correct display but not audio, i then press AUX and this gives me ATV control and audio.

interesting, when i first set this up (trial and error), it didn't work.  I was doing some cable management clean up, when i got a fright and the thing started working...but i have a ghost in my house so that is probably a more plausible reason why its working now.
it feels like this product is only 90% finished

I have a Sony SA-VE815ED SYSTEM. I have not used it in ten years. Can I hook it up to a HD TV?? Do I need a receiver?? How do I use the HDMI connections on video games, TV, etc?

The SA-VE815ED is a set of speakers. You'll need an receiver (with an amplifier either built in or separate) to connect the speakers to the TV. Depending on the receiver, you may be able to connect the HDMI cables from any set top box to the receiver and then have an HDMI out cable to the TV. (In this configuration, the TV speakers will not get the audio track. So you will want to ensure that the TV's speakers are off and the receiver is on when you play games.)

Alternatively, plug the HDMI cables directly into the TV and then connect the TV's audio out to the receiver. (Depending on the TV, your may need to get a receiver with digital audio inputs.)

Retrevo has the manual for the SA-VE815ED here: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Sony-SA-VE815ED-Speaker-Systems-manual/id/23108ci362/t/2/ . You'll need to enter a code to download the PDF.

I hope this helps.

Trying to connect a sony home theatre system so that the akai television plays through the home teatre speakers. I used an hdmi cable, but the tv still only plays threough the tv.

The HDMI jacks on the TV are HDMI in. Thus to get the theater system to play the sound, you use the HDMI out from your set top box to the HDMI in of the Sony theater system and then the HDMI out of the theater system to the TV. (Connecting the HDMI in of the TV to the HDMI in of the home theater system will not work.)

If you are watching OTA TV or a direct coax cable connection, you need to hook up the TV audio out to the home theater system audio in to use these speakers with the TV. Then you probably need to set the TV to use the external speakers. This will probably be in the Menu under Audio. (Toggle external speakers on/off)

The Akai LCT2785TA has RCA audio out (1/4" red and white jacks). If your home theater system has RCA audio in, just get a patch cable (MM ends on each side of the cable). If your home theater system only has digital audio inputs, you will need a converter. http://www.ramelectronics.net/audio-video/audio-converters-extenders/analog-to-digital-digital-to-analog/1t-ap-216/prod1TAP216.html is a link to one appropriate converter.

I hope this helps.

I am having trouble connecting my Panasonte SC-BT230 to my cable box and my TV. Do i connect my cable box to SC-Bt230 than to my TV or my SC-BT230 to cable box than to TV

Hello,
Here are a few ways to go about this.
connect the cable box hdmi (if Capable) to the panasonic hdmi input. Then connect panasonic hdmi out to tv hdmi in. The easy thing about this setup is that you only need the two hdmi cables because they carry both audio and video.

If your cable box or tv are not hdmi compatible, Then connect video output from cable box directly to your tv, and send an audio feed from your cable box to the panasonic.
Hope this helps,
Good Luck

How do i hook up to a tv

It depends on what connections does your TV have and what video sources you want to connect to the receiver.

This receiver doesn't have any video conversion capability. What you connect to HDMI-in of receiver, will be only on the HDMI-out. What you connect to component-in, will be only on component-out (and NOT on HDMI-out or anything else). So it doesn't make sense to connect any source via receiver other than HDMI - in such case, connect just audio (either spdif optical/coax or analog stereo) to the receiver and connect the video directly to TV.
For HDMI you can connect it via receiver, because this will carry both audio and video. Connect your sources (DVD player, sat box) to the receiver's HDMI-in 1-4 and connect HDMI-out to your TV.
