Check and see if there is a small pinhole on the back. Try inserting a paper clip. This would be a soft reset and has been known to clear up mirror imaging on some tablets. Also a swift hit on the back side of the tablet has been reported to work as well (try at your own risk) lastly try a hard reset but not you will lose you data. This option is found in the settings menu. Hope one of these works for you.
To highlight text permanently, similar to a highlighter on paper, use WordPad instead of Notepad. Find WordPad by searching on the Start menu or Windows 8 Start screen. In WordPad, first select the text you want to highlight, and then open the drop-down menu next to the highlighter icon, located near the font settings. Pick a color to highlight the text. After setting the color, merely click the highlighter icon to highlight selected text with the same color. Word 2007, 2010 and 2013 offer an identical feature, used in the same manner. Word also includes the option to click the highlighter icon first and then select text to highlight How Do Highlight Text in Notepad eHow

(written for XP) Right click in the taskbar (usually at the bottom of the screen). If 'Lock the Taskbar' is checked, click it to uncheck. Next, click 'toolbars' and 'Desktop'. This should put a new toolbar in your taskbar called Desktop. You should be able to push this all the way to the right. Now when you want to access the desktop Icons, they will be available at the double arrows on the right of the word Desktop. I keep mine this way all the time so I can access stuff on the desktop even when it is covered with open windows.
