What is causing RCD to trip repeatedly?

RCD is a safety device and is meant to trip if it sees a ground fault or phase to phase fault and protecting you from a shock sounds like you have a heater problem or a fan,if unit runs for hours with no trip then heater, if trip a few minuets then fan ,the only way to find it is to mega ohm each part with in the unit.

Never feels hot after washing and is still wet

Mine has a thermal trip switch on the side of the heater element. Very difficult to access, lift and tilt machine, look underneath, heater is a cylindrical unit 3 inch diameter, 10 inch long, trip switch is small unit on the side with a protruding button. Push the button to reset (very faint click, I didn't hear or feel it click last time I did it)

Gfci trips heater not turned on

GFI is Ground Fault Interrupter (or GFCI - Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) It is doing its job, telling you that there is a short in the unit or wiring. Have a certified electrician check the wiring and unit.

Main burners in my old utility gas heater will not ignite

A common problem with these are the safety limit switch trips, either because the fan did not come on and over heated the unit, or the unit got shut off while in heat mode, causing the switch to trip. These are usually located around the top/side of the unit heater behind a small access panel. It should be resettable by pushing in the small button in between the two connections. Hope this helps!

Hello,I have an old jacuzzi vectra II hot tub (1988) 120 volt.the gfci on the unit trips every time the pump is on low speed with the thermostat calling for heat. there is no trip when there is no demand...

hi,

ok so when the pump is on high and the heater is running it doesent trip? you didnt say if it did. undo the heater leads so the pump is isolated completely. run the pump on the control centers gfci and see if it trips. if it does then try wiring directly - with an extension cord to a plug with a gfci in your house and see if it trips the gfci in your bathroom. if no trip inside house then bypass tubs gfci and run it with heater and pump through your bathroom gfci. if no trip then try and replace the tubs gfci, it gets pretty humid in the control center and gfci's have a semiconductor which which do fail after years of rough duty like that. if it trips the gfci in your house with the heater again it has a cracked heater element. craigslist always has old hot tubs and parts. you might have to buy a whole used old hot tub but that may be cheaper than a new heater box.

DeLonghi oil heater model HMW2400TG 10 years old. Suddenly started to activate the safety electrical switch 2-3 seconds after being switched on.

one of three things are common causes of this problem ...most likely, dust builds up enough to block air flow then the unit will overheat inside .. that will trip a thermal breaker .. the breaker will reset when the unit cools .. if that problem continues then it may trip a permanent breaker .. if that happens the unit will stop working .. take the unit outside and blow the dust out of it with air pressure.. .. another common problem is if the fan bearings start to freeze then the fan wont run fast enough to maintain proper air flow .. lubricate the fan front and back bearings with light machine oil or sewing machine oil .. don't use WD40 or oil containing teflon .. the lube life is about 5 years so yours is way overdue for oiling the bearings if you haven't done so yet.. a third problem that is common is the electrical connections inside the heater are made with crimped on rivets .. the rivets loosen sometimes with age and a hot spot is created at the loose connection (you might even see sparks there) .. that can also trip the thermal breaker and is generally not repairable at reasonable cost ...

Electric water heater out. Already replaced elements and breaker. Getting power to the unit but no hot water. What now?

Have you reset thermostat on the heater, it will be the top thermostat right above the element. It will have a red reset button to press to reset. They will trip causing the heater not to work till it's reset or replaced due to thermostat gone bad. Chances are you may only have to reset it.

Please go to link below with to get some very helpful information on these topic's. If you replaced everything but the thermostat or reset it that's all left to hold out power to water heater. The thermostat is a safety device to protect the home owner. You may have had a element short out to trip it.
It will take 30 to 45 minutes to start to produce hot water after power comes back on.

replace the heater resistor block. On my 2002 Voyger it was easy and part was apx. 17.00. drop the door of the glove box. Let hang and behind the box is the unit. Remove 2 ea, 8mm screws and unplug a 6 pin plug and a 2 pin plug. Replace unit install two screws and replug in connectors. Will take apx. 15 min. and will save you money and a trip to the shop. Good Luck, Bigfox
