I suggest you call the tech support for your laptop. If it's something that's really easy for the common folk to answer, then that feature is useless. Am I right?

SOURCE: Password

Somewhere on the board is a small button cell (a battery). Remove it carefully and leav it out for about 5 minutes then refit it (make sure you refit it the correct way around or you WILL damage the board). This will erase the bios settings. When you first reboot, it should rewrite the bios settings for you and boot as normal. Sometimes this can happen where the bios has a damaged code precursur which defaults to a password, resetting the bios will clear this.

After my Toshiba Satellite L300 was dropped, everytime I switch it on I'm asked for a password? Is this BIOS password? What can be done?

If it is a password that is being asked before the Windows Logo, then it is the BIOS password. Unfortunately we cannot reset the CMOS battery from a laptop. You need to contact Toshiba Support for a generic password for this.

Laptop again lol

Is this a Windows password after the machine boots, or is this a bios or power on password before booting to the windows screen? If it's a Windows password, try running a system repair with your recovery or operating system disc. If it's a bios password get back to me and I'll send you a couple of links. In order to clear a bios password you'll need to Contact Dell support. The links will help only if it's a bios password. Let me know.
