You have to make sure the mfp is set up on the local area network, then set up the smtp information in the command center. See THIS LINK for instructions or consult kyocera support site or your install disk for users manuals. it is very similar to setting up outlook.

Guyscan you help me configure Scan to email from a Kyocera Copystar 250ci printer what settings will i look around to configure scan to gmail or other email clients

You need to find where to enter the settings for an smtp server. (simple mail transport protocol) Most internet service providers allow clients to use their smtp server. For instance, for Shaw in Canada to smtp server is mail.shaw.ca. Some will require authentication in which case you will need to have a valid account with that provider.

How do i connect to the scanner.I have this connected for the printer, now i need items scanned to send e-mail don't know how to do this

It all depends on how your set up is. If you are connected through USB, you will need to download the twain driver from the Kyocera website. Then you can utilize any scanning program that you wish to collect the document image.
If you are connected through ethernet, it's a little more complicated. The first choice you need to decide is what you want done with the document image after it has been acquired. There are three main choices: Upload to FTP server, Send to a folder on a computer through SMB, or email.

All three of these options are obtained through the Kyocera Command Center software installed on the printer. Point your browser to http://192.168.2.10/ and you can login. If it asks for password, the unit ships with password "admin00", so that should get you in unless someone changed it.
You can adjust the settings through this screen. Head over to the "scan" tab, and you can put in the information for whichever way you want it. If you decide on Email, you will notice at the bottom of the page a link to set up the SMTP options for sending the emails.
Another note with email: you will need to set up a DNS server in the TCP/IP section under "Basic" settings. If you don't have a DNS server on your network, you can utilize universal ones. I recommend using Google's DNS servers (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4)

When i scan to email, i get an error; "send error 2202" and the document is not sent to email. The Kyocera fs-1028mfp printer is connected to the LAN using a network cable.

Apparently there is a communication error between the printer mail server. Can you ping both reliably ? Is it an internal mail server ? If yes, can you ping the printer from it ? Did you try changing the network cable ? How about IP addresses ? Could there be a conflict ?

When trying to send a scan to email, it says it is unable to connect to the SMTP?

You have an incorrect setting in the configuration part of the machine. The SMTP setting is for your connection to your OUTGOING mail server. This may have the wrong address setting or the authentication is not configured properly or it may need to go out on a special port. Talk to someone familiar with your e-mail settings. All I can help you with is to tell you where to look.

Km-3035 (kyocera) send email from scanner key, eveything seems to go fine, but no one gets emails, going into history of sending I find error E022. manual is no good, it give no codes. searched google, no...

The E022 error indicates -

The mail contained an e-mail address that the SMTP server can not find.

Check to make sure that the destination e-mail address was entered correctly.

The link below will take you to the manufactures web page where you can download the Scan System Operation Guide (Function Edition which list the error codes.

If you continue to have a problem you can go to www.gfbm.net for more assistance, also they have some Kyocera setup and troubleshooting information.

I have a Kyocera CS 1820 copier, scanner, fax machine and I can't figure out how to geet it to scan to pc. I have installed the drivers from the kyocera site and still no luck......

Make sure that you downloaded the correct drivers....Etc... (x64) vs (x86) also make sure you have the proper script # driver ... Etc... #5.1 vs #6. You will want to completely uninstall all the old drivers, shut down your computer --- do not just reboot, reinstall all the new drivers, and after your computer is done rebooting – shut it down and restart. Also make sure that you and the designated file set up on the computer, it needs to know where to scan the document and send it to.

FS1118 scanning issue - this may sound like a long process but its easy...

Just create a folder called scans in your c:/ drive right click and share the folder

Go to the kyocera command centre (type the ip address of the machine into your browser, taking note your machine must be networked)

Once in kyocera command centre

Click on basic

on the left menu select address book, contacts

create a new contact and under SMB

only insert your computers IP address in the host field

and insert the file name scans in the path field.

Click submit...

Once complete go to your machine

insert a page to scan, select the send button

press the address key

select the contact you created

select ip address press enter

now press 2 on the keypad

press enter

press 2 again

enter again

and then press the green start button once complete..

The scanned document will appear in the scans folder

Kyocera 2550 Scans but how do I OCR?

You can find documentation form Kyocera Printers here, though it barely mentions anything about their OCR feature:
http://usa.kyoceramita.com/americas/jsp/Kyocera/home.jsp

The OCR feature is only an image quality setting, producing a more black and white high contrast image rather than a grey scale image.

I'm using our Kyoceras to email the images to a server where "send mail" processes the image and runs OCRopus, an open source Google funded OCR project, to read information from the scan.

I'm finding there are many Virtual ReScan solutions, like Kyocera's OCR feature, VRS software produces OCR optimized images, though I haven't found an open source VRS project.
