Re: cant find my email icon in dock
Easiest way to bring it back is to click on the magnifying glass right next to your clock and type in gmail. Choose the first choice under the "Application" section. After to launch the gmail app, you will see it in your dock again. To keep it permanently in the dock, simply drag it's icon to ANY other spot in the dock (does not matter where.) Dragging it to another spot tells Mac OS X that you want to keep it there.

If the Mail icon has disappeared from your dock (row of icons at the bottom of your screen), do this:
Click on Finder (the blue smiley-face at the left side of the dock). This will open a "Finder window".
Click on "Applications" (on the left side of the Finder window).
Look for "Mail" in the list of applications.
Click & drag "Mail" down to the dock, between any two other Apps. You should see the two apps "scoot over" to make room for the Mail app. When you see this happen, release the mail app and it will be sitting in its new home in your dock.
If you're using Windows 7 or Vista, try going to Internet Explorer, then registering at www.gmail.com or www.outllook.com or other service or logging in. In new systems there is no Outlook Express program.
I am taking it when you talking about icons it is the ones in the dock. What I think is happening is these icons have lost their association with the relevant applications. To get rid of the icons click and hold down the icons in the dock and then drag them onto the desktop this will delete the icons not the applications from the dock.
Now go to your applications folder and check that itunes and safari are in the folder. Once you have found them just single click on them and then drag them onto the dock. This should correct the problem.
If the applications are not in the folder you will have to download them from apple site again and reinstal them. Then you can use the method above to put the icons back on the dock.
What do you mean by "lost the icon"?
If it's not in the dock anymore, but still on your hard disc, you probably just dragged the icon out of the dock. Go to your Applications folder an drag the icon back in your Dock. – You can also use Spotlight (upper right corner, menu bar) to search for Safari.
are you trying to launch from dock if so, single click and hold the safarfi icon and drag it off the dock (that should remove it from the dock)
then go to your applications folder find the safari icon and drag it to the dock
the new safari icon should work
