Creative Labs X-fi Extreme sound card and Microsoft digital plus

Hi I have Creative Labs X-fi Extreme sound card and Microsoft digital plus. I have used the digital plus for recording my LP's and tapes no probelm with the onboard audion but recently have fitted the above sound card. I can hear music and it is fittied correctly but when I open the digital plus it does not hear the audio to record. I have tried the control panel sound etc and all is ok there. My question is do I need a driver to make the hardware communicate with this software.
