SOURCE: the chain will not slide

When a chain comes off a bar during use, sometimes the chain will strike the bar and/or the chain guard (piece on the bottom of the saw where the chain goes back around the sprocket, that keeps the chain from hitting the user) and this will put burs on the drive links (parts of the chain that ride in the groove of the bar). These burs will cause the chain to grab onto the side rails of the bar when reinstalled onto the bar. The only way to correct this is to file the burs off of the drive links or replace the chain.

You can find flat files to file off the burs at your local hardware or building supply store and replacement saw chain loops at Partsbuggy.com.

How can I get the case of my singer confidence open

If you take a look at the left hand side, the cover there (over the needle post) usually has a screw in the side which is often covered by a white disk that you can pop out by pressing on one side with a screwdriver, and another at the back that is generally not covered. It may only have one screw in the back. That cover can be removed for cleaning purposes, and you should remove it periodically to clean it. If you want to uncover more than that, generally you would remove the back first, but if you do, tape each screw next to the hole on the cover--it will save you a LOT of grief putting it back together!

we had the same problem and didnt use our's for about a year as a result! brought it to a guy in Cork Street, Dublin. what he did was clean out the pump area on the left hand side, near the back and at the bottom of the machine. having cleared out the fluff and dust he washed it out, flicked some sensor switch a few times (under a small plastic cover he had removed on the pump unit). when he put it back together it worked fine.

ZODIAC INGROUND POOL PUMP MAKES A NOISE BUT DOES NOT PUMP WATER. WAS WORKING AN YESTERDAY. HAVE CLEANED FILTER, AND MANUALLY TURNED FAN AT THE BACK. STILL NOT WORKING??

If your pool pump is acting sluggish it may simply be a build up of debris inside the impeller. Cleaning it is simple if you know how.
Step 1 - Check the Impeller

You can check the impeller for clogs by opening the clear cover that is on the strainer basket. Then place your garden hose into the basket and turn it on high. The water should disappear immediately. If it does not, you may have a clog.
Step 2 - Turn off the Power to the Pump

Before actually removing the clog from your pool pump impeller you will need to turn off the power to it. Remove the basket and use a finger to reach into the hole behind the basket to feel for any debris. If it is clogged, go to step 3.
Step 3 - Disconnect the Pump and Motor

Disconnect the pump and motor from the plumbing. Depending upon the make and model of your pool pump you may be able to skip this step. The motor usually just slides away from the pump.
Step 4 - Remove the Plastic Cover

Take the pump apart by removing the plastic cover over the motor. This cover generally has several small screws holding it on.
Step 5 - Remove and Clean the Impeller

Once the cover is removed you will easily be able to see the clog in the pool pump impeller. Just use your fingers or a coat hanger to clean it out.
Step 6 - Clean

Put everything back together. Once you have it cleaned out you can put the cover back on and put it all back together. Problem solved.

Model 8280. The thread on the bottom keeps bunching up. It is a horrible mass of thread. Then, it stops moving. Can you help me?

I had the same problem and I tried everything including removing the bobin case, cleaning out lint, changing the needle, adjusting the tension but it did not work. Then I finally tried reloading the bobin thread, making sure to load the bobin according the manual directions....and the problem was solved...no more tangles... just a nice even stitch...yeah!

REDDY HEATER PRO 70

I have a Reddy Heater R100 that ran just fine until one day it

wouldn't ignite. I took the cover off to see if it was sparking and it

ran just fine with the cover off. I got on the Internet to see if there

was a definitive answer as to why it would only run with the cover off;

there wasn't. So I decided to troubleshoot it step by step instead of

replacing everything at once. You can thank me later.

Step 1: Dumped out old fuel, made sure the tank was completely dry and

clean. Put in fresh kerosene. This is an absolutely hideous job.

Result: Still would only burn with the cover off. Said bad words.

Step 2: Replaced all three filters. Result: Still would only burn with

the cover off. Didn't say bad words, just thought them.

Step 3: Removed the end filter cover and pushed on the pressure relief

ball. It seemed to be stuck.
so I marked the relief screw, counted the exact number of turns to take

it out, and washed the end filter cover and small parts with Dawn

dishwashing detergent. Harsh solvents can melt the plastic on the end

filter cover. Blew everthing dry. Put a little oil on the spring and

ball so they wouldn't rust. Put the relief screw, spring and ball

together, making sure I turned the screw back in the same number of

turns that I took it out with, within a tolerance of about 1/8 turn.

Result: Still would only burn with the cover off.

Step 3: Downloaded a manual from:

http://www.desatech.com/manuals.cgi?products=Construction%20Heaters to

find out the spark plug gap. They didn't have one for an R100 so I used

the one for a R100EDI. I cleaned and set the spark plug gap to .055".

I think later heaters use .075" or .085". Check your manual. Result:

Still would only burn with the cover off.

Step 4: Removed the nozzle. Put a clean paper towel under the input and

sprayed carburetor cleaner into the output end of the nozzle,

backflushing it. Four or five pieces of crud came out, onto the paper

towel. Really cleaned the nozzle good. Blew it off with compressed air

to make sure all of the carburetor cleaner was evaporated. Replaced the

nozzle. Result: O frabjous day! It worked just fine for about a half

hour, then it started coughing and smoking.

Step 5: Removed the nozzle again. Put a clean paper towel under the

input and sprayed carburetor cleaner into the output end of the nozzle,

backflushing it again. Four or five pieces of crud came out, onto the

paper towel, again. Really cleaned the nozzle good, again. Cleaned the

fuel filter and the upper fuel line. Made sure everything evaporated

before I put it back together. Result: works great with the cover on.

Ran the tank of fresh fuel empty. Put the original fuel back in, it

works too.

So, if in the future, I have the problem where it doesn't burn with the

cover on, I'm going to start with the nozzle, upper fuel line and fuel

filter.
