Does the water stop while the pump is still operating ? Is the "READY" light ON when the water stops ? You need to be more specific about exactly what the symptoms are because these machines are fairly complex and have pressure and temperature sensors to make sure the shots are consistently good. You should make sure to flush your machine regularly with descaler because scale buildup is the most common problem that you'll run into with coffee machines. You can get descaler at any decent hardware store or you can also use "CLR" which works just as well. If the pump keeps running and the water flow just stops, then I would suspect that there is a clogged line or the grind is too fine. Try pouring a shot without using the spoon to see if the water flows freely. If it flows OK, then your grind is probably the problem. If it still does not flow freely, descale the machine several times and see if that makes things better. If you've never descaled your machine, then use a strong descaler or CLR concentration and run the descaling liquid through the machine several times, or even let the descaler sit and soak the inner workings overnight, If the just pump stops prematurely during a shot, then there is probably a sensor problem with the machine. Take it in to a repair place for diagnosis. If you can't find a place that repairs espresso machines, ask the manager of your local Starbucks what repair company they use, since Starbucks stores have contracts with people to routinely service and repair their own equipment.

Remove the portafilter and press the brew button, if the water flows from the head with a nice flow then the problem is with the grind (too fine), or the coffee has been Tamp too hard.
If water barely flows when you press the button then try backwashing the machine and removing the shower screen to clean it.

Cafe barista not frothing

the frother gradually gets milk buildup and loses suction- an air blast through the milk tube and up the spout (can get an aerosol at hardware store) will help as well as the cleaning cycle. Also I used a q tip to the top of the spout several times but just had the q tip top come off and may have blocked it completely

There is no milk coming out of the frothing part of the Delonghi Coffee Maker, it just makes a noise and steam comes out.

If no milk comes out of frother, check the o-ring on the upper "plug" where the milk jar connects to the machine. There are two connectors; only the bottom one corresponds to the steam output while the upper one is a plug. Mine had a worn out o-ring on the plug, and this keeps the machine from frothing milk.

Flashing lights on my saeco italia espresso machine

I had the same problem, two green flashing lights with one red (water) all 3 would just keep flashing and not turn solid. No coffee can be made or hot water. I could not pump prime. The problem was the steam wand was blocked with old milk residue. It needs unblocking or you will never pump prime. I could not unscrew the steam wand...so I let it sink in a glass full of hot water for a few minutes and then turned the water knob counter clockwise to push out the softened residue. After that, everything was good. When water started flowing out of the steam wand, the red light turned off and the green lights turned solid. The obvious answer to why you can't pump prime is there is a blockage somewhere and best to start with the steam wand. --Mabada

Not enough steam is produced to make good froth.

I have one too and what I do is: turn all 3 switches on and while I'm waiting for the "ready" light to come on I go ahead and pour the milk into my frothing pitcher and prep my espresso basket.
After the "ready" light comes on I install my espresso basket and turn the handle to the "left" so no liquid starts coming out.
Next, I take an empty coffee cup and hold it under the steam nozzle and start opening the steam valve until I get only steam instead of a stream of hot water. Once you have steam, close the valve, put your pitcher of milk under the steamer and froth as usual to around 150 degrees.

My Barista Saeco is 4 yrs.old. Pump works good in the steam cycle but bogs down in the brew cycle. Today the pump almost stopped completely. What's up?

Try cleaning your portafilter. Put a pinch of automatic dishwashing detergent in the portafilter basket only. Brew until you get suds comming out then stop for 1 minute. Repeat 5-10 times, stoping for the minute each time, until you get white foam. Then rinse basket and brew empty for a complete tank. Then try brewing again with coffee.

It could be vapor locked like mine was. I have a starbucks barista espresso machine and had the same problem. I called starbucks and they walked me through manually priming the machine from the back to break through the vapor lock. After 2 tries it finally worked and i can use it again. Its a time consuming procedure but worth it.Call them at1-800-334-5553 They are great.
