Question about Photography
I have a nikon D 5100. Suddenly when in turn it on and try to take a picture, the error " err 40F5" appears on the display and the picture is not taken. What is this error?
This error the manual says: please contact the Nikon service centre closest to you. You could try to switch of the camera, remove the battery and replace it and then switch the camera on again, but if the error comes back you should contact Nikon.
Don't forget to check if everything on you camera is ok.
Battery charged, lens correct mounted. Memory card with enough space to save pictures )(correct format)

SOURCE: fee to error
Remove the batteries for 5 or 10 minutes. Remove the lens from the body and replace it. Make sure the lens is on f22 before you put the batteries back in and turn on the camera. If this doesn't solve it, try rewinding the film you have in the camera and try a new roll. The other thing to check if none of the above works is to remove the lens and check the small tab just on the outside of the mount ring at about 7:00. The tab is spring loaded and you should be able to push it with your finger and it will snap back. If it doesn't, the tab plate will need repaired or replaced

You have to reset the rewind counter by pushing the two buttons simultaneously - one on the side of the lens mount, the other by the release button - red, cassette symbols. This tells the camera there's no film in it.
