Go to BIOS, Advanced, and search for something having a word LED in it (I do not remember the exact option) - make it Enabled.

Are you hitting the right key to get into the bios? When you boot the laptop it should tell you what key to hit to get into the BIOS or System Setup.

Toshiba Laptop Scroll problems

Scrolling is not obvious because there is no area actually marked on the touchpad that shows where it is. Also if you tap the area before doing it, it won't work. Even for me it is hit and miss, since I don't practice with it enough. You could adjust the area that it uses and make it bigger, but then that gets in the way of regular mouse usage.

I would suggest that you try it at a store, and have a sales person show you how to use it.

As for the curser jumping even with that checkmark, well it can. All that checkmark does is turn off the touchpad for a brief moment while oyu are typing. Pause for a second and the touchpad is active again, then slightly bump the touchpad and your mouse will jump. Prove this to yourself by turning off the touchpad entirely with Fn+F9.

In the touchpad settings you can adjust various things to suit you. For example increase the slider for the diable while typing chekmark oyu mentioned, decrease sensitivity, turn off tapping support, etc. Each have thier pros and cons, and that is why they are adjustable.

Also, since you repaired it, I assume they tested it to make sure it was working. And if the touchpad is working, then the jumping adn the scrolling have nothing to do with a hardware problem, it is all software. You can replace hardware till the cows come home and it won't change things. So look at the software settings for scrolling and for "jumping".

No solution found on your site. My 62" Toshiba DLP makes an extremely loud chopping noise when on HD channels using a satelite service. (Happened on Dish and Suddenlink) No sound except for the chopping....

Have you contacted your satelite provider? Have you any other HD sources to try, A Playstation 3, a blue-ray disc player or even using the TV's terrestrial HD tuning system can tell you if its the TV or the Satelite.

Device Manager is where you want to go to see if something is wrong with it. You know also, I'm not sure if any other Toshiba has this built in it. Like on some HP, they have a button just to the top of the touchpad. If you hit it, it turns off the touchpad. Hit it again, its back on.
I’m pretty it doesn’t. If the button is not there, then it might be just your touchpad is dead or loose cable on the inside.

Let me know
