SOURCE: Lamp Light Red - No Screen Image

It could be the a problem with the lamp ballist circuit, or just a bad lamp socket, or simply a bad lamp. The only way to tell is to call out a servicer as that would be alot less expensive then to get a new lamp and then that not be the problem. These problems can be a little hair pulling at times, thats why i have no hair left!! LOL Good Luck

SOURCE: Green light flashing-tv will not reset-no picture no sound

When TV does not start, and sometimes you hear a clicking noise, that means that the TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

SOURCE: red light flashing 5 times of kdsr60xbr1

Hello and Welcome to Fixya,
Here are the reasons for which the light blinks 5 times:
If Led blinks 5 times, Diagnosis: White balance failure (Not balanced) Possible causes: Video out (IC7101, 7201, 7301) is faulty (CR, CG, CB board), CRT drive (IC309) is faulty (A board), G2 is improperly adjusted. Symptoms of the problem: No raster is generated, CRT cathode current detection reference pulse output is small.
Check all possibilities one by one. If nothing works out. You might need to have a replacement.

Do rate my solution, If this helps you out.
Regards.

I had the lamp my Sony Bravia X2 replaced last nov 2011. Ithasbeen lots of green andredcolors in tv programs and have tried to change the color barson remote etc butpictures still aren't right. Its or

Unfortunately, this is a very common issue with Sony rear-projection televisions. The optical block fails, causing discoloration, usually blue or green. There was a class-action lawsuit which ended in 2009 regarding many Sony models, including the Bravia X2.

It can't be repaired, at least not for a reasonable amount of money.

The silver lining here is that as recently as 2011, Sony was offering discounts on brand new TVs, to people who called in with their "green blob" issues. It's worth a shot, give Sony a ring at 1-888-476-6972

Lamp Fan should not cut off and on it should run at all times when TV is Turned on.Lamp Fan is designed to run when set is turned on to Keep Lamp Cool otherwise Lamp will burn up.
Yes Bad optical unit block could also cause set to shut down. But most of them will Play but with Dots,Green yellow tinit or Big blue Spots

Stanby light flashes green and looses the signal tv turns to stanby then comes back on this happens about every 10 minutes

For the KDSR60XBR1, 5 blinks, pause, 5 blinks, etc. means "Lamp driver error" and the probable cause listed is "Lamp driver is faulty".

You may purchase the lamp driver (power supply block), part number 146893612, for $161.86 at http://servicesales.sel.sony.com/web/productSearch.do. Use the Part or Accessory Number to look it up."

My sony kds-50a2000 picture is green why? I replaced projection lamp the picture was great but now the picture is terrible everthing seems to have a yellow tinge to it and green seems to be dominant...

The problem is the optical block and nothing else but. Contact the dealer from which you purchased the set to see if you qualify for Sony's extended warranty on this very, very expensive part, which may be covered by a class action lawsuit Check here http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/news-item.pl?news_id=367&mdl=KDS60A2020 The lawsuit covers all the KDS models. It seems that Sony continued making these rear projections even though it knew the optical block failed prematurely. When you get it fixed, go to setup and make sure the cooling fan is on HIGH and power saving is ON. Both of those features will extend your TV's life, including the optical block and the projection lamp. Further, bring a portable compressed air tank to the TV and, with a narrow nozzle, empty it into every opening in the set's back. At least once per month, check for dust settling on the rear of the stand behind the TV -- when it gets thick, get the air tank.

Sony KDSR60XBR1 had lamp replaced march 09 then optical box replaced june 09 2 months or so after i turned the tv on and the picture looks like **** from all inputs. I did everything tech support asked me...

The Optical Blocks have been major problems in this Model Line. As far as I know they are still covering the cost to replace the Optical Block out of the original warranty that came with the set. Most of the issues with the Optical Block is either micro dust build up in the light path, (mirror, LCD panels, etc),
or a heat issue causing failure on one of the LCD panels with in the Optical Block.
As far as the Lamp is concerned, they will fail on average every 3000 to 5000 hrs of use.
I am not sure if I answered your questions but hope I did.

This is a free repair on the optical block/engine. For specifically a road mapping issue. (Where there is sparactic grouped lines on the screen of the TV)

Otherwise there is a full recall on all 50XBR1's and 60XBR1's for ANY video issue.
But the bullentin I do have on that is Confidential due to the amount of claims SONY could recieve. But here is a sample of the bulletin.

Models: KDSR50XBR1, KDSR60XBR1

Subject: Optical Block: Warranty Policy and Part matrix by serial number.

Resolution: As part of Sony’s commitment to quality, Sony is announcing that it is extending the limited warranty (parts and labor) for optical block replacements on the models listed above until October 31, 2008, regardless of purchase date. Authorized servicers should follow the normal process for warranty claims for this issue.
