We had a power failure during a lightening storm. When the power was restored, the tv still had power but no picture or sound. I looked for a reset button around the exterior of the tv,but didn't find one. Someone mentioned that the tv may have a fuse that could be replaced. If someone can help me with this or any other possible solutions,I would appreciate it !

No sir it probably isent a power supply problem as in these sets it wouldnt act like that. First thingm to check since you say your a service tech, is in the horizontal output check and see if the horiz. output transistors shorted. If its not then check a small coil off the base of the horizontal output transistor. its really the base drive coil so take it out and scrap off the ends BOTH ENDS and reinsert and also resolder the horizontal driver transformer. This may or may not fix your problem But if it dosent order if you think ther sets wrth it the flyback transformer as this is a big problem in these sets if the for mentioned things did do the trick. follow the kit instructions that come with the flyback transformer!! Dont take any short cuts. Make sure you do take out the horizontal output transitor or at least unsolder all the leads when tesating it for a short. Good luck

six inches will just reach the bottom of the main cuircit board. Does the units green light flash? there is no reset hutton there is a fuse. but i would suspect if it got wet then something blew

The first thing is to check to see if the fuse is blown,if so replace with a 5 amp fuse, fuse is located near were the power cord connects to the board, make sure set is disconnected from power.

Well, this is a difficult situation. I assume your unit will not power up and this can be several problems in this unit and will most likely require someone with troubleshooting experience. I would suggest finding a repair service that gives free or reasonable estimates if you bring the unit to them and haul it in for the estimate. This unit has chronic failures of the deflection/power bd. as well as the convergence power supply and convergence amp. bds. I have also had several with shorted crts, and shorted ic's on the crt drive bds. so It is impossible to guess.

There are soldered in Protection components in the power section. If the power light is on then the standby power circuit is still receiving voltage.
If you are unfamiliar with a meter, electronic components or soldering , then someone who is will be required to accomplish the repair
