Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I have an Epson Stylus R1400 (under 1 year old) with a CIS system containing black inks. For the first time when I printed a nozzle check it came out darker and slightly smudged. The smudging went but it still printed the nozzle check much darker than before. When I tried printing a picture it applied too much ink over the print; ie. layers obscuring mch of the detail. When I tried a couple of cleaning cycles it stopped working (ie. two lights flashed alternatively). I reset the ink pad counter successfully after finding a solution on your site. Now the same problem appears as before with the darker nozzle checks and over inking for prints. I print using Quadtone RIP software but nothing has changed as regards the settings. Any ideas?

Hi

If its a software issue then it would have gone after the reset however, you can still reset your system using the Epson Reset Utility. This utility will reset your printer and will let you clean the print cartridges aswell. You can download the epson reset utility from this link--

Epson Reset Utility

However, i'll advice you to get the printer checked from epson as your printer is under warranty. This might be a hardware issue related to print head.

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

I have epson r230. In light magenta vertical lines appear, i run clean print head many times, but not resolved, in skintone green color appear. wht to do

In these situation you can try these procedure.
Take a empty cis . pour it with amonia solution ( water40% + amonia60%). set th CIS and run head clean. 2/3 times. put off Cis. set original cartrige/ CIS with ink. Run head clean.1/2 times. print a nozzle cheak. I Think you may relive from your problem.
Thank you.

I've just replaced the black ink cartridge for my Epson Stylus TX100, ink level is ok as the indicator shows. But i get blank prints for black, other colors are fine. What's wrong with the black ink...

There is nothing wrong with the black ink. Just run the head cleaning for better printing.

1. Go to printer and faxes
2. Right click your printer ( Epson Stylus Multifunction Printer/ Copier/ Scanner InkJet)
3. Click printing preferences
4. Click Maintenance Tab
5. Click Head Cleaning
6. Run head cleaning for 5 times then try printing.

Changed from cartridges to cont. ink system. Now

Hi Dave,

Chances are the problem is that you haven't removed the travel plugs that allow air into the reservoir part of your CIS. This is vital because the air needs to replace ink used up in printing and if it can't do this the air creates something of a vacuum that holds back the ink.

Also worth checking that you haven't got any crimped (folded) tubing or clamps that are still engaged that shouldn't be.

Hope that helps..

Epson Stylus C86 - prints faint magenta even though ink levels are in a normal printing range - does not print anything or a barely seen magenta line during nozzle check and heading cleaning

You probably have a slowly worsening clog building up in the Magenta nozzles. It's also possible that your ink is reaching its end of life which, given the age of the C86 is entirely possible, especially if you are refilling or using a CIS sytem with your printer.

If it's a clog issue you can try soaking the parking pad with a mildly ammoniated cleaning solution (original Ammonia windex is good for this) or even distilled water. Leaving this with the printhead parked above it allows the solution to wick up into the nozzles and break down any clogs in the printhead.

If the problem is ink age though you will probably want to carry out the solution above AND replace your ink with a fresh solution. A CIS will need a thorough flush to remove any algae and cloggation residues before you use it again or you will just reintroduce the problem.

Hope that helps.

Epson RX620 yellow lines/blocks on page

Try to print the nozzle check, and see what your out put is like.
If it is not giving you a regular pattern, then have the nozzle
replaced. Most times when the nozzle is clogged with ink, you
get such out-puts. So follow this steps.
How to print the nozzle check:

1. Press the Setup button.

2. Use the arrow buttons to select Nozzle Check, then press the OK button.

3. Confirm the message on the display, then press the OK button to print the Nozzle Check.
Shown below are some examples of what the nozzle check may look like.

Epson sx200 One of the colour inks is empty and no print in black

Hi, this is not a solution because I don't think there is one apart from buying new inks. Epson and all other inkjet printers do this to prevent the coloured print head nozzles from getting blocked. If they are not used for a long time the ink dries up and blocks the nozzles. Epson recommends printing at least once a month with all colours to prevent this. Printing in black only option will only work if the colored inks are OK. Whenever the printer is turned on it performs a head clean, this is why the coloured inks get used over time even though they are not used for printing.

Excessive Ink & dark band on nozzle check

if cis try place the inks lower than printer if refil try repressure them ( open the plug hole - press the cartridge on the side then close them)
if you are using original ( not likely ) replace them..

Epson Stylus Photo R800 Print Head Nozzles ??

Don't use nozzles clean function, besides ink consuming it can cause damages that cannot be fixed: black lines on the back side of the page that will be permanent. Instead put two photo paper together (2x260 gr) and push the two papers together into the printer while printing a motive including many colors. Do so a couple of times and the clogg usually disappears. Good luck! jonk
