"An error occured while trying to enable the data source" error msg. Running W7 on HP deskjet 35so. Will preview but not scan. Ran HP print diagnostic and all OK. ??

SOURCE: I am using Photoimpact x3

I could try and troubleshoot the problem causing the scanner to stop working, but it would be too hard going back and forth using this method. So, instead of troubleshooting, I am going to tell you how to just solve the problem instead.

First, remove photoimpact x3 from your pc through the control panel (start, settings, control panel, programs & installs, and then click on photoimpact x3 and choose uninstall and follow the prompts).

Then go to this link below, and choose "print, scan & other problems" and follow the prompts to allow this program to fix the issue for you (free).

http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/

After repairing the pc problems, reinstall the software (photoimpact x3) by inserting the disk in your pc and follow the prompts to complete a clean installation.

That should solve your issues. Good luck!

Hi!

The problem described has nothing to do with the network or network settings. It looks like a driver/software related issue, the operating system cannot get accurate data regarding the status of the scanner.
Please download and install the latest drivers and software available at HP, especially for the scanning feature, here is a link:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=1140780&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=1161389&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=228

Hope it works!

Good luck!

Scan wont work on mac psc 1410v

First are you trying to scan using the scan button on the all-in-one or from the computer? If you are trying to use the scan buttons, you need to install the HP full-feature software package: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=219&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=458978#N193 . (If you need to expand the section marked drivers.) Uninstall the printer and disconnect the data cable before installing this full software.

If you installed the basic drivers that came with the Mac OS, you can scan using Apple Preview and Image Capture software. You can also acquire a scan from the Print & Fax > Printer browser. Open the software from the dock or from the Applications folder. In Apple Preview, choose File > Import from Scanner. In the Image Capture program select the all-in-one from the list of devices.

For the Print and Scan. Open System Preferences from the Apple Menu. Click Print & Fax and select the all-in-one. Click the Scan tab and Open Scanner. Then click Scan.

With the HP software you can launch a scan from the computer or from the scanner (but only if the monitoring program is running). You need to set up the HP Utility for the scan task manager.
This site has the full set of steps: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02456650&tmp_task=useCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=458978#N2158 .

Sometimes an all-in-one will work for printing but not for scanning due to a damaged cable. Scanning requires bi-directional communication with the printer. Try replacing the data cable. If you use a USB hub or print server, try a direct connection to the computer.

I hope this helps.

How do I get my hp f4280 to scan to my comp.

Hello Lulu !

To use the scan features, the HP All-in-One and computer must be connected and turned
on. The HP Photosmart Software must also be installed and running on your computer
prior to scanning. To verify that the HP Photosmart Software is running on a indowscan
computer, look for the HP Digital Imaging Monitor icon in the system tray at the lower
right side of the screen, near the time.

To scan to a computer
1.
Load your original print side down on the right front corner of the glass.
2. Press Scan.
A preview image of the scan appears on your computer, where you can edit it. Any
edits that you make apply to the current scan session only.
The HP Photosmart Software has many tools that you can use to edit your scanned
image. You can improve the overall image quality by adjusting the brightness,
sharpness, color tone, or saturation. You can also crop, rotate, or resize the image.
3. Make any edits to the preview image, and then click Accept when you are finished.

Heres a link you will find everything you need to know about the f4280 (scan features starts on page 63) :

Bottom of page is cut off sometimes printing from vista computer

Hi- I'll try to solve this.

Go to the start menu and open the Control Panel. Double click on Printers. Right click the L7580 printer and choose "Printing Preferences" On the preferences window click on the "Advanced" tab. Make sure "Advanced Printing Features" is set to "Enabled" Under "Printer Features" turn "Minimize Margins" to "On"

This should solve the issue. If minimize margins is off, it will cut it off at the bottom.

I
have a HP Deskjet F4235. When I try to scan a paper it says \'an error
occurred while communicating with scanning device\'. I didn\'t put in the
ink cartilage for printing. Do you think that is the problem? How can I
solve this problem?
Best Answer: Try updating the driver for your Deskjet. driver updates seem to be needed/ otherwise sounds like a connection prob/ not software really.

HP C6180 All-in-one

I had this before from a similar HP all in one. I discovered if the scan data was bigger than the PC physical free memory then this error would occur. It required a PC restart to get it going again. Try reducing the scan DPI and/or reduce the area scanned with the preview bounding box.
