I done the deinstallation of canon software AND REINSTALLATION of canon software 4 weeks ago when problem was first seen. I know that the problem is software on my computer. I told you I was able to load photos onto a laptop using window XP. I was using my powershot a630 and my own cable with this successful test. As i already told you I am using vista and the latest version of zoombrowser ex. Is there any settings on zoombrowser EX that I need to make. Is there any setting on my camera I need to make.

i cannot transfer my photos from my canon a630 camera to my dell computer. My dell computer is running vista. I have deinstalled the canon software and reinstalled the canon software putting on the latest version of zoombrowser Ex. Basically NO Window appears when I attach mt camera via the usb port. It seems like a simple problem. every suggestion you have made to me I have already tried. BIll

none of the above solutions work. Not even the vista photo gallery. When I use this my camera does not show as a peripheral on my usb port. Can you please tell me wher I can access a software tool that checks my computer software re importing photos

If your not picky about the program that you use to download your photos then you can use the windows photo gallery in vista to import the photos from the camera. Hit vista bubble then type in the search box windows photo gallery and open that. In photo gallery goto file then import from camera or scanner. If your deadset on using zoombrowser then you could try updating to the latest version dated 12-Mar-2009. Can get here : http://support-au.canon.com.au/EN/search?canonsearch=1&lang=EN&category=Cameras&series=Digital+Compact+Cameras&model=PowerShot+A630&menu=Download
The other thing that may be playing up is your autorun settings. There is a great guide here that should help you sort that out. http://www.maximumpc.com/article/when_windows_xp_autoplay_goes_wrong_and_how_to_fix_it
Hope this info is gold

My Canon Powershot A630 use to dowload pics onto my Widows Vista but now it won't acknowledge the camera. I tried to find a dowload fix on Canon site but it says that this may not need a driver or is not...

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).
