SOURCE: Makita 5010 will not work in random orbital mode

It sounds like the bearing in thee bottom plate is seizing. If you turn the pad by hand does the motor turn. It should be smooth. I would look at that. The bearing number for Makita is 211236-8 or if you can get a generic bearing it is 6002DDW. Let me know

SOURCE: Putting Sanding paper on makita sander

A makita power planer is just what it says, a planer. It has blades that spin at high speed and remove a thin layer of wood with each pass. The orbital sanding sheets go on another tool called an orbital sander. Write back if you find the sander and can not figure out how the sheets go on it.

SOURCE: orbital sander doesnt orbit!

Never start the Sander without first placing it against the surface to be sanded. In free air the Sander will not osolate.

Hi my makita orbital sander model BO5021 no longer spins can it be fixed ? thanks in advance for any help or advice.

You should be able to fix it. If the motor hums but no rotation I would look at bearings, it really depends on what the tool is doing. BUT the good side is that I found you a breakdown so that you know what you are getting into and by going to "makitausa.com" you can download the breakdown and they also have a locator that you can use to get parts sometimes locally. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance with your repair.

Good day. How do I insert sandpaper into the Makita 9035N sander? Thank you.

looked at breakdown for the 9035 and this shows as a half sheet sander with 2 clips, they have a lever that has to be pulled away from the sander to allow you to lift up on the clamp and insert the paper under the clamp jaws when finished inserting the paper just push the levers back to their original position. You can download an owners manual by going to makitausa.com and typing in your model number. Let me know if you need more assistance.

I have been using a Makita random orbit sander model BO5010 for years without problems until I replaced the pad with a Porter Cable 13910, sold as compatible. Now the sander takes off, ie: increases speed...

HI, i have a feeling the pad could be the issue there. The genuine Makita one is designed for the motor, so unless the the replacement is exactly the same thickness, diameter, and weight then you will have problems. Imagine putting a small wheel designed for a car on a truck, that kind of issue. Best thing to do is to try putting the old Makita pad back onto the machine and see if that make any difference. (that is if you still have it) At work we have had similar problems where we have used non-genuine circular saw blades onto our Makita saws, and its has burnt the motor out.
