Question about CyberLink PowerDirector 12 Ultra - Windows

Open Question

Unable to create DVD or produce MPEG-2 video file

I have been unable to get the program to author a DVD(MPEG-2), or DVD file for burning later, or produce a MPEG-2 video. DVD attempts always lock at 20% with no error or indication of any problem other than after time (as long as 10 hrs waiting at 20%) the project does not progress. MPEG-2 files complete but either don't play at all or are blank. I tried just 7 pics in timeline using PD12 Magic Movie Wizard and though all is well on the timeline, it locked at 20% for DVD production (never got to burning process) and when attempting to produce a MPEG-2 video from the same timeline, produced a 56sec blank video with no sound as MPEG-2 file. All projects play fine as edited in the timeline. Have installed all patches from Cyberlink site. Using Win 8.1 Dell Inspiron i-7 8GB RAM 1TB HD. Suggestions?

SOURCE: Burning of DVD from Power Director V7

I have power director as well but what I do after I produce the movie is I use any video converter I downloaded it for free http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/

I convert the video to DVD VIDEO NTSC MOVIE (.MPG)
then I burn it with nero software (I believe they have a free trial) mine came with my burner.
I found that I got a clearer movie without jumping like I had with the powerdirector burn program.

This is what worked for me.

SOURCE: I have been using Cyberlink

If recently you have made any hardware or software changes eliminate that and then check how it works.
Do system Restore to a previous date when your computer was working fine to do that go to Start - all programs - accesories - system tools - system restore select a date when your computer was working fine follow the on screen steps.
if you have win vista then start-search type system restore and do the same thing.
If this doesnt helps try to uninstall and reinstall the software.

How to burn MP4 to DVD on Mac OS X

Want to convert MP4 to DVD on Mac OS X?
MP4 is the official multimedia container for MPEG-4 video and audio, which is widely used on iPod, iPhone, iTunes, PlayStation Portable (PSP), etc. If you have a few of MP4 videos and movies and want to watch with DVD players connected with TV on the big screen, or to keep the movies, share with friends and family, burn MP4 to DVD is a good choice.
What you need to burn MP4 videos to DVD on Mac OS X?
To burn MP4 files to DVD, you need a DVD burner that can convert MP4 to DVD on Mac OS X(including Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard). Nero 9 and Daniusoft DVD Creator for Mac are your solutions. Nero is a powerful DVD Burner that performs many functions and is a bit complicated. In contrast, Daniusoft DVD Creator for Mac is much more user-friendly and meets all your needs such as burn videos and photo slideshows to DVD, add DVD menu, edit videos and pictures, add transitions and effect, etc.

Below is the step by step guide on how to burn MP4 to DVD on Mac OS X
Step 1. Load files
Just click “+” button to import MP4 files to this program or simply drag and drop them to it. And rearrange the file list by using the up-down arrows.

Step 2. Edit files (Optional)
To personalize your DVD files, you can edit MP4 files and slideshows as well by clicking “Edit” button. For video files, you can crop the frame size, trim into several clips, append effects, add picture/text watermark and rotate.

Step 3. Create DVD Menu (Optional)
This Mac DVD Creator also allows you to create your own DVD menu with rich selections of DVD menu template. Simply click “Menu” button to select one and set the “Frame”, “Button” and “Text” to customize your DVD menu

Step 4. Start to burn
After all necessary settings, you need to insert a blank or rewritable disc to your Mac if you want to burn video files on DVD disc. Or you can simply convert the videos to DVD folder, .dvdmedia or ISO file on your Mac for later burning.
That is it! Now, with MP4 movies burned onto DVD, you can easily play your videos on your home DVD player

What type of files are on those little mini dvd's? Are they digital files? are they avi or mpeg 2? I am a soccer mom trying to get clips to college coaches who cant deal with the minis. I want to get the...

The files are MPEG-2 files, the exact same format used on DVDs. I create sports DVDs for high school athletes who are applying for college scholarships, and I deal with these discs all the time. For football, most coaches have the camera operator start and stop the camera for each play, so you can simply copy the MPEG-2 file to a "DVD Authoring" program, and then create a disc. For soccer, however, the camera probably is running for the entire half, perhaps only being stopped after a goal or for some other prolonged stoppage of play. Therefore, you need an editing program that can cut MPEG-2 files without re-encoding. Telling you how to do this is beyond the scope of what I can do in FixYa. However, if you have a PC (as opposed to a Mac), then you can purchase Studio from Avid/Pinnacle Software and it will let you both edit these files and then create a DVD that you can submit to the various colleges.

Hope this helps!

The problem's not what they are saved as, it's your burning software needs to transcopr them into mpeg-2 format so that they burn properly.
There are several dvd burning software programs out there...some very pricy and some are free.
For pricy type I would go with nero 10
For free, I reccomend Free DVD Creater
Whatever program you go with, it must be one that will change the format from whatever it is, to mpeg-2.

I hope this helps.

How can i change the format that my "magix Photostory CD & DVD" program burns my pictures/music to a DVD that WILL play on a home DVD player and not just a computer? I have a Windows XP

There are three ways to create a Video CD (VCD) that contains your photo stories:
You can obtain Microsoft Plus! Digital Media Edition and view the Photo Story 3-authored WMV file in Photo Story 2 by going to Play your story or create a video CD of your story and then create a VCD.using the Photo Story 2 Video CD-burning feature.
• You can obtain Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10 or above and view the Photo Story 3-authored WMV file in the Photo Story that comes with the Digital Image Library and save and burn to VCD.
• You can obtain VCD-authoring products that work with Photo Story files, such as MyDVD by Sonic Solutions or InstantCD\DVD by Pinnacle Systems. You can use these software to convert the Windows Media video (WMV) files into files that can be copied to a DVD and played in a DVD player.
Note: VCD and DVD-authoring software is not included with Photo Story 3.

Failed creating file

I had to re-do the project, this time using Standard Quality rather than High Quality, and it completed creating the file(s) and writing the DVD.

Converting .DAT files to DVD Files

I guess that this file is from a VCD? If you just burn that file onto a CD as a data CD it should play in your DVD player. The AVSEQ01.dat file is already a (S)VCD file. It is in MPEG format and should be playable on a DVD player as is. Alternatively you can import the file you want to burn into nero vision. Once it is imported then choose to export the file as an MPEG file or burn direct to DVD. Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!
