Question about Technics SU-G75 Amplifier

1 Answer

No sound from stereo

Hey all, I'm looking for some help as to why my old Technics SU-G75 amp isn't producing sound. All the settings are where they need to be, speaker button is on, volume is up, etc, etc. I removed the top to unit and it looks like some components overheated, see pic below. Looks like resistor 703 and 704 might be cooked? Don't know what would cause this. Could this be my problem? Is this a quick/ easy fix or am I better off retiring this old girl? Got it for Christmas about 20 years ago, I hate to get rid of it. Any help would be appreciated.

SOURCE: i have a SU-G75 Technics stereo intergrated

Hi grayjt1963,

Based on the symptoms that you described this problem is caused by either of the two components. The most likely reason why you are getting no sound at all right now is the protect mode which your amp is in right now with the outputs turned off to prevent further damage. This unit have an AMP-Pac for the final stages that may be defective. The part number is RSN3306. This is the most likely part and can be purchased for about $60. Also inside is another AMP-Pac for the center and rear speakers (SVI3204B) which runs about $58. Either can cause the symptom you describe.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Technics SU-G75 has no sound

Hello
when the resistors are burned, means that the transistors are damaged, or the power module is damaged.
and in your case its the power module.
Hope this helps.

Technics SU-G75 overload

I have the same problem..it will be required to remove the board and resolder "cold " solderings... None of above solutions have been helpful, but "you get what you paid for"..and I completely disagree...even if required, remove ALL audio power managing circuitry and replace this expensive original design with TI´s Integrated chips..using PWM technology..unless you want to go back to L6, ot Kts tubes..

I have a Technics stereo integrated amplifier SU G75. The cooling fan began making chirping noises then stopped. Now every time I turn the stereo on I get a overload message. Could it be the cooling fan...

It chirped because the bearings were worn out, then it froze up and isn't moving any air. Get it replaced. DO NOT run the unit if it keeps overloading or you will have a bigger problem.
