Assuming that the fuses you speak of are the external pair, and not the internal motor or timer resets:

Check the fuse holder for corrosion on the plates. Often the fuse is not properly seated because of this build-up and therefore has an intermittent connection. This will cause the fuse to either heat up, or overload; ultimately failing.

To remedy this, turn OFF the breaker, or main switch if necessary, and fix a wooden dowel with a piece of emery cloth (or sand paper) on the end. Remove any visible black corrosion from the contact plates.
Finish with a spray of WD40 to protect the plates and fuse end.
Replace the fuse, ensuring that it's tight, reinstate power and try again.

SOURCE: My dryer won't turn on

Make sure that the problem is not a broken belt, or a belt that has slipped off of the motor pulley or idle arm pulley.
Look to see if the motor is running first, sometimes you cannot hear the motor running but it is.
Also you can check your breakers to see if one is kicked out.
This problem can also be caused by a faulty start switch.
If this is not the problem than it may be time to call the repairman

Kenmore dryer doesn't turn on and belt broken. I can hear timer on if I hold start button on. If belt was only problem wouldn't dryer motor still turn on

It depends on the model on some models they have a belt switch so that when the belt breaks the switch kills power to the motor and it wont run until the belt is replaced and the switch is engaged. If you need more help with making this repair visit the link below:

Kenmore 70 Series Dryer not heating and not cutting off

I had an identical problem to yours this weekend with my Kenmore dryer. There were 2 problems.

1. Timer was broken. Does not advance to "OFF" position on timed dry, however it still works for auto-dry.

2. Thermal fuse was blown. Upon replacing, dryer heated up normally.

I believe when the timer broke, the dryer had kept running and blew the thermal fuse. On Sears' website, thermal fuse is $5.30, timer is roughly $80.

My kenmore 70 series dryer will not start what could the problem be?

bad fuse. do you have a lint screen on top of the lid or in the door? if it is on top remove the back panel make sure that you have removed power to the unit you will see a white line peice with 2 wires attached that is your fuse check to see if you have continuity. if not replace your fuse. if that is not your problem you could have a broken belt or a bad timer. let me know if the fuse is ok first though,

Dryer wont start. starter switch is new and timer will run when the door is closed

HI. if the timer is running, and the wiring harness is in good condition, this will confirm motor failure. I would advise to test the operational value of the door switch as well but if the door switch is working, this will only lead to motor failure.
