LG Golden Eye 80cm CRT Television - Green haze in the right hand corner

Hi, I have recently bought the above television which the people said was about 4-5 years old and nothing wrong with it.  When I got it home it seemed ok, didn't see much wrong with it, but the next day or so I noticed this green haze in the right hand corner, it doesn't seem to be there all the time, but is beoming a little more noticeable and a little bigger.  It could be just coincidence but it seems to go away a little if you change channels, but if watching the same show for a while it seems to get a little worse.  Just wondering what this could be, will it eventually get a lot worse or is there anything inexpensive I can do to get rid of it or make it not get any worse. Hoping someone can help me here, thank you

    Thanks Modern,

Is it very difficult to Degauss a TV is it something I could do myself?, There is no speaker or headphones near the TV, only a VCR and a DVD, as i said this comes and goes, it doesn't seem to be there all the time, but when it does show it seems to be getting worse.  It has been moved as I bought it off someone and had to transport it to my place.

Does the Degaussing make the TV perform any lesser after it has been done?

Thanks, it has been a little better since moving a speaker a little more away, not sure if this is just coincidence or not, i suppose we'll see if it reappears as it normally does, I hope not though. thanks for your help

  • there is nothing wrong with your tv
  • the problem which you are seeing is due to magnatic effect.called degaussing.
  • it generally comes when you change the place of tv or some body turns the direction of tv wnen it is on
  • also check that any magnetic material like speaker or headphone in not lying near tv.
  • if it is there remove it & put off tv for 30 minutes &then put on it will be fine in day or two.
  • remember do not turn tv while it is on.
  • still problem persists call tech to degauss tv
  • it is hardly 5 minutes job but i am sure that it will be ok.

    • degaussing will take place automatically

    • do not worry

    • it will be okay itself

    • remember one thing in future that do not move or tilt when it is on.& do not keep magenatic thing very near to tv

Top of the screen Picture Problem

sound like you have 1 or a couple of leaky/bad capacitors in the tv's vertical circuit, typically, there sould be 5 to 10 caps. in all, but you just need 1 bad one to cause your problem. good luck.

No Red Color

Just 'cos one Sanyo has started to act funny does not mean all Sanyo TVs are bad. As for the defective Sanyo TV, it seems that there is some problem with the Red Output circuits. Get a professional Technician to have a look. Nothing much you can do unless you know Solid State electronics.
