Question about Dell PD01S (PD01S) External Floppy Drive
It runs fine. I can hear it running, but it doesn't really read the disc it starts and stops starts and stops alot and then just quits. tried other discs and I have cleaned the thing inside and out.

This means your hard drive is bad. You need to replace the hard drive and then the operating system.

your best bet is to get a convertor connector for the laptop drive to full size IDE drive and put it in a desktop as a 2nd drive to format the laptop drive using the desktop, put it back in the laptop and do a clean install/restore.

Disc Read error indicated a failing hard drive. Replace the drive will be the fix, then reinstall Windows
