Question about Dremel 1800-01 Scroll Station 18" Variable Speed
Switching on cuts-out the electrical supply. It seems to be the motor that's at fault (i.e doesn't blow when motor disconnected). I've stripped the motor but can see no physical problem with the armature windings. Any ideas what could be wrong, please? Also, it has a curious ring shaped device in its circuitry that fits behind the commutator that I've not seen on other motors - can someone tell me what this does, please? Any tips as to how I might check "electrically" for short or earth fault would be much appreciated. Thanks.
There seems be problems with the electrical systems of the Dremel 1800 scroll stations (had same problem)
Speedcontroller burns out and DC motor gets hit by Main AC voltage.
Earth leakige due to low resistance between DC motor Rotor and earth (flowing current to earth)
Measure rotor copper connections to earth to check for low resistance, should be very high.
Biggest problem is that the main metal body under full main voltage comes and this is a dangerous situation!!!!!!!
All to fix is to repalce (both) fauly parts,
Motor Controller and DC motor
Hope this helps
