Question about eBay Auctions
Posted by Anonymous on
Sounds like you have already done the deal??? why are you asking now??? ................ITS YOUR MONEY.. love it or lose it..
....First. You should review the renters feedback.. carefully... if they have any negative feedback.. I would stay away... I have been :doing ebay since 1998.. I have ZERO negative feedbacks...(over 800 +)..
If they have all + feedback and you like what you see..just make sure you CAN get your security deposit back.. and PAY with your credit card THROUGH PAYPAL!!! They will help you if you have an issue.

The only manner that is secure and protects you the buyers is to purchase the car through the eBay motors auction listing. You will have the option of paying via Paypal, Check, Money Order, etc.
The eBay Motors Vehicle Purchase Protection (VPP) program provides protection of up to $50,000 against certain losses associated with some types of fraud. You are automatically enrolled in the program at no charge when you complete the purchase of an eligible vehicle on the eBay Motors site (motors.ebay.com).
Participation in the VPP program is subject to the following eligibility requirements:
You have successfully completed the purchase of a vehicle* priced at more than $100 from one of the following categories on the eBay Site:
* You will be deemed to have successfully completed the purchase if you receive confirmation in your "My eBay" that you have successfully won, or purchased, an item through an auction, Buy It Now, or Best Offer.
Your eBay account, and the account of the seller, had an eBay Site feedback rating of zero or above as of the listing's end date and your account is in good standing (i.e. not suspended) at the time the reimbursement request is filed.
You, the seller, the vehicle, and the financial institutions on which payment was drawn, and to which payment was made, must have been located in one of the fifty United States or Canada on the listing's end date.
You are able to provide the VPP Administrator with documentation to substantiate all purchase payments, and/or estimates for repair, related to your reimbursement request within 14 days of filing your reimbursement request.

I think you should contact ebay and find out if they infact hold money, and are they aware of this type of transaction. The answer doesnt make sense to me I would also think its a scam, but ebay should be the ones to let you know for sure. Besides if a third party was holding my money I'd like to know exactly where, and how long it would take to get it back if the deal falls thru.

Best way here out is pay on delivery. You can provide the transaction id to the support guy:
Let us know if you have something more to ask else please accept the solution.
Thanks for contacting fixya.com

Did you agree to the purchase through the eBay auction? If so, then things should be good, as eBay does a good job of keeping only legitimate sellers, and helping resolve issues when things go wrong. But if you found the sale via another site and the seller is directing you to go through eBay to make the financial transactions, then maybe you should ask the seller for the auction listing number so that you can indeed find it on the eBay site. Then you can proceed. If his auction number is legitimate, then you should be able to find it both with the auction number as well as by doing a search in eBay Motors with pertinent details, such as bike model, year, etc. If you can find it both ways, then it should be legitiimate.

Send the customer an email from your ebay account and save a copy for yourself. Tell him that the payment he sent did not go into the right paypal account. Ask him to cancel this payment so that paypal refunds his money. Tell him that you will send an invoice to him from paypal with a request for payment. Ask him not to re-send his payment until he receives that invoice request from your account. Then go into your paypal account and click on the request money link. Choose the option to send an invoice and enter the information for your EBAY account if you have not already done so. Then send an invoice to that person requesting payment with a note that says the same thing in your email from EABY - tell him to cancel the other payment because it went to the wrong account and ask him to use this account instead. Tell him you have already waited two days and that he only has 1 -2 days more to pay for this item or you send a bidding strike for non payment.
