Question about Philips 55PP9401 55" Rear Projection Television

Replaced Philips 55pp9401 convergance and still has issues

I have a Philips 55pp9401 and when i had gotten it it had a convergence chip problem. I successfully replaced the chips, ensured that all resisters were fully operational by testing them with a volt meter, and physically placing all wires snug back into place. I still have a slight convergence problem, the left side looks like the green tilts up above the wide screen cut-off, and the right side looks like the blue tilts below it. Also the lettering on my dvd is off with a double right below it. I havent the slightest idea what is wrong with it now, not to meantion that the colors look dull and probably need a cvt fluid change, which i inquired this question and the fluid change kit about at and 2 weeks later still havent gotten back to me. If you got anything for me, something is better than nothing, sorry for the lengthy question.

my philips 55pp9401, which is chassis pp15, so it is a hitachi, i just figured since that it had talked about dull colors that it might need a fluid change. But i had gotten my kit from so the chips are stk***110, the exact value that the burned ones were. I understand there is better reliability with 150's and like i said, all resistors have the color rings still visible and still resist.

No, I cannot lie. I just recently moved to Utah from wisconsin and found myself looking at all the good buys that people had on craigslist up here. Half the stuff on the list is simple repairs, so i bought this tv for fifty bucks, spent 60 on a repair kit with all the resistors, heat sink, and new convergence chips for 60 bucks. But you stated that I am better off going through hitachi because the parts i got are probably generic eh?It makes sense but the only other thing with this tv that i don't understand is why the color is so dull and not bright enough to watch movies that are darker set. i have all my settings up to the max and it just makes the black look like ****. So i will try exchanging all the resistors since I've just got them lying around anyways but if you got any other tips for me i really do appreciate it. Thank you

one last question, I am finally going to order parts, but I am having a hard time finding a reputable and reasonably priced site to buy the stk394-160 hybrids from. I do not need the entire kit just the ic's so if you could help me one last time it would be great

Acording to my research and if you have the right model number this is an Hitachi chassis in this for some reason Where did you get the ic's from ? If there generic that could be your problem. You always want to buy them from Hitachi and they have a kit that comes with all the resisters . Don't get the cheep ones. Also there is no fluid problem with the Hitachi's. If your looking at the back of the set the IC's should be on the far right side and should have small color coded resisters to the left of them. If any of them don't have a bright color there bad. New IC's should be stk394-160. See if there is a chassis number and let me know.

New chips are stk394-160 some resisters are red and and burn to orange. I have had only one problem that was other then normal with these. Like I said almost every 110 ic's I have got have been bad cause the only one's out there are junk unless they came strait from Panasonic or Toshiba. Hitachi part number CZ01341 Have you had this set since it was new ?

Here's what Philips FAQ says about your convergence procedure:
Question How do I adjust convergence (align colors)? Answer Note: For best results, the Projection TV needs to be turned on for 15 minutes or longer before adjusting the picture tubes (convergence).

Press the INTELLISENSE button on the remote (under the flap). During the convergence process DO NOT press the INTELLISENSE button again and DO NOT move the Projection TV.

So, I think you're going to need to order a replacement remote.

You probably have a problem with your convergence board. Try resetting the convergence manually on your TV - go to Philips website for instructions on doing this if you have lost the Quick Start Guide. If the manual convergence fails, then your convergence board needs to repaired or replaced.
