I have a Philips 55pp9401 and when i had gotten it it had a convergence chip problem. I successfully replaced the chips, ensured that all resisters were fully operational by testing them with a volt meter, and physically placing all wires snug back into place. I still have a slight convergence problem, the left side looks like the green tilts up above the wide screen cut-off, and the right side looks like the blue tilts below it. Also the lettering on my dvd is off with a double right below it. I havent the slightest idea what is wrong with it now, not to meantion that the colors look dull and probably need a cvt fluid change, which i inquired this question and the fluid change kit about at tvrepairkits.com and 2 weeks later still havent gotten back to me. If you got anything for me, something is better than nothing, sorry for the lengthy question.

- my philips 55pp9401, which is chassis pp15, so it is a hitachi, i just figured since that it had talked about dull colors that it might need a fluid change. But i had gotten my kit from tvrepairkits.com so the chips are stk***110, the exact value that the burned ones were. I understand there is better reliability with 150's and like i said, all resistors have the color rings still visible and still resist.

- No, I cannot lie. I just recently moved to Utah from wisconsin and found myself looking at all the good buys that people had on craigslist up here. Half the stuff on the list is simple repairs, so i bought this tv for fifty bucks, spent 60 on a repair kit with all the resistors, heat sink, and new convergence chips for 60 bucks. But you stated that I am better off going through hitachi because the parts i got are probably generic eh?It makes sense but the only other thing with this tv that i don't understand is why the color is so dull and not bright enough to watch movies that are darker set. i have all my settings up to the max and it just makes the black look like ****. So i will try exchanging all the resistors since I've just got them lying around anyways but if you got any other tips for me i really do appreciate it. Thank youSep 24, 2009
- one last question, I am finally going to order parts, but I am having a hard time finding a reputable and reasonably priced site to buy the stk394-160 hybrids from. I do not need the entire kit just the ic's so if you could help me one last time it would be great
