I was able to find the roll back feature but it took it to a ps2 mouse. I will reload the stock driver like before but that doesnt seem to help either. The touch pad works and the buttons work just the scrolling features dont. It even has a place to try it in mouse settings and it works there but not outside of that mouse settings area. Any other thoughts?

  • pumacomm May 26, 2009

I loaded the drivers but no change. It works in the touchpad practice area but thats it. It still shows a kinda scroll icon when you use the vertical scroll part. In the driver area it calls it a ps2 mouse and it is obviously a touchpad. Synaptics pointing device is what it is called. Please dont stop, any more ideas?

I've seen this before and I think I know what might have happened.

Of course, I'm guessing, so bear with me.

during an update from Windows website, the touchpad drivers were updated. This was done, in all likelihood, without your knowledge.

Find the touchpad in the Device manager (I'm guessing you know your way around a computer) and look at the properties.

Then, roll back the driver and restart.

good luck.

Try uninstalling the ps2 mouse from the device manager, then restart the computer. Let it install the drivers automatically when the restart happens.

It used to work, and I'm guessing an updated driver is your culprit. It usually is.

    good luck

I'm not sure, exactly. Somewhere around this posting there should be a place to vote on how well your problem was solved. I have not done it, so I am unsure, however, I have many votes, so I'm sure there must be a way.

    Good luck, and happy computing!

The touch mouse will scroll and move but won't click.

you might have to reset it
Most modern laptops with touchpads offer vertical scrolling, horizontal scrolling or both. These features are located along the right-hand and bottom edges of the touchpad, respectively, and are activated when you swipe your finger along the touchpad edge. Scrolling functionality is nearly always enabled by default, but some users find the feature an annoyance and elect to turn it off. In most cases you can simply turn the feature back on using the Windows Control Panel.

Click the Windows Start button, select "Settings," and then click "Control Panel." Double-click the icon labeled "Mouse." Select the Touchpad properties tab. The labeling of this tab varies, depending on your computer manufacturer, operating system version and the device drivers installed on your machine. Common labels include "Touch Pad," "Device Settings" and "Dell Touchpad." If you do not see this option, you may not be able to turn on scrolling for your laptop; skip the remaining steps and refer to the "Warnings" section below. Click the "Settings" button within the Touchpad Properties menu and look for the section labeled "Scrolling Settings" or similar. Enable scrolling within this section and define other scroll settings, such as scroll zone width and scrolling speed. Click "OK" to confirm your changes, and then close the Control Panel windows opened in the previous steps. The scrollbar on your laptop is now enabled.
Scroll Is Not Working With Windows 7 b> Certain computer touchpads have a vertical section on the pad itself that is used to scroll through the page or program window that you are currently viewing on your computer. If the scroll functionality suddenly stops working but the actual touchpad is still fine, this means that the part of the software for the device that controls the ability to use the scroll has been disabled. You can enable it again in the Control Panel.
Click "Start." Click "Control Panel." Click "Mouse." Select the "Enable Scroll" option (or whatever similarly named option is available on your specific model of laptop computer). Click "Apply." The scroll bar on your touchpad will now work again.

The scroll bar in my laptops' touch pad isn't working.

The scroll on your laptop is controlled by the trackpad installed on the system.

If you are having problems with the scroll on your laptop's trackpad, there is something you can do before you take it into a computer repair shop.

Updating the driver to the trackpad will enable the scroll if it is not working at all.

Once the driver is updated, your scroll should work again.

You can access the driver through the Device Manager on your laptop.

Click the "Start" button, then click the "Search" option.

Type "Device Manager" into the search bar and press the "Enter" button.

Click on the "Device Manager" icon from the menu, then scroll down to the "Track Pad" icon on the left side of the screen.

Click on the icon, then click the "Driver" tab at the top of the window. Click the "Update" driver option from the window.

Wait for the new driver to install on your computer.

This should take about two minutes to complete.

A window will appear telling you that the driver has been installed.

Put your fingers on the touchpad to move the mouse around on the screen.

Hope this helps.

I want to turn off the scrolling on my touch pad

1. Locate the Touchpad icon in the area near your clock, in the bottom right corner area of your screen. Known as the System Tray. Thi icon may look like a picture of the touchpad. Some systems may have a different lookint icon. You can place your pointer on each icon and you will get a baloon identifying the icon.

2. Once you find the icon, then Right Click on it and select Pointind Device Properties or the similar option on your system.

3. Click on the Device Settings tab, and then Settings in the box that opens. Known as the Mouse Properties window.

4. Adjust the settings for scrolling, tapping or other features you wish to change by following the directions on your screen. When finished click on OK and it will exit while applying the changes.

Hi sheki_68,

If you have disabled the Scrolling Feature of the Touchpad, you will need to re-enable for the function to work correctly. You can enable the Touchpad Setting from the Control Panel, Mouse Options.
  1. Click the Start button and then click Control Panel .
  2. In the Control Panel window, click Hardware and Sound .
  3. In the Hardware and Sound window, click Mouse .
  4. In the Mouse Properties window, click the Function tab.
  5. To enable the Scroll function, click to check the box next to Use Scroll Function.
  6. Click the OK button and then close the Hardware and Sound window.
This should re-enable the Scrolling Feature of the Touchpad. If the Function is not available in the Mouse Properties window, you may need to re-install the Touchpad Driver in the Computer to fix it.

Good Luck!

Hope this helps.

Please post back if you require further assistance.

Lenovo G550 touchpad scroll bar does not work with windows 7.

Have you tried installing the drivers for the touchpad?

The link below will take you to the driver download page for your laptop, scroll down to the section for touchpad and install either the windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit drivers.

Not working for my vertical scroll zone howcan activate this problem

Hi,

Assuming you're talking about the touchpad, this can be enabled and disabled in your control panel.

Open your start menu, then Control panel, if it's not in classic mode click the Classic View link in the top-left corner. Now open the mouse icon and select the Device settings tab(red logo), now click the settings select by single clicking the synaptics touch pad from the list. click the settings button below the list and select the "Virtual Scrolling" section.

You will see two check boxes, the First enables the marked off vertical scrolling feature, the second enables a horizontal scrolling feature that may not be marked on the mousepad but runs along the bottom of the pad and works the same way.

Click OK, on both windows and close the comtrol panel.

Hope this helps FixYa, if not reply back with any additional info you can,

Chris

probably need a driver or at least an updated driver.

Also go into the control panel and see if there is an icon for the touchpad... double-click on that icon and look for settings to enable the scroll pad.
