Switch the bobbin winder on and then off again, crisply, or turn the knob in the middle of the handwheel to tighten the clutch. If still no response, your machine may have a broken belt or be seized from lack of proper lubrication.

SOURCE: My sewing machine is stuck after I refilled the

I was wrong. I thought there was something wrong with the top part of machine because I kept hearing a noise when I step on the pedal. Turns out the problem was on the bottom. The little part where the bobbin goes it has two little circular thingies that were not aligned correctly. Once I corrected this the machine works perfect again.

I have a Necchi model 537FA. When u step on petal, it won't move. Does this machine have 2 BELTS? I only see one. I have oiled before running.

If you don't have any movement or hear the machine attempting to sew, you may have a burnt out pedal.
You should hear a slight hum when pressing on the pedal. If you don't hear a hum, the pedal is probably dead.
These can usually be ordered from the merchant who sold you the machine.

All of a sudden handwheel froze up.

Is it a mechanical machine (not computerized)? If so it has probably frozen from lack of oil during the time that it was not in use.

It was working now it seems to be frozen the needle part wont move

Where are the oil ports on an old Kenmore 10 sewing machine #12511..thanks

If your older Kenmore is mechanical (not computerized), it probably can use a bit of oiling beyond what the manual recommends. Older machines frequently were pre-oiled at the factory, however, after many years, the oil tends to dry out and cause the mechanical parts to stick (the reason most older machines are frozen). Perhaps this link will be of help:

The Stitch Selector seems to be stuck and it will not move. Also the Stitch Length wheel is also very diffiult to turn. Please help!

If you can provide the brand and model of your machine, it would be easier to help you.

Is your machine is an older mechanical machine. If so, how long has it been since you've cleaned and oiled it? Sounds like the old oil has solidified and frozen the moving parts.

Consult your owner's manual on cleaning and oiling your machine. Use only good quality sewing machine oil (not 3-in-1, WD-40, or cooking oil), and apply only one or two drops to each spot.

The wheel wont turn to be able to sew on my Brother VX 1200. I can do it by hand but when I press the pedal, I can hear it whine, but it wont move. Thoughts?

I'm not familiar with your model sewing machine, but if it's been setting for quite some time, chances are it is frozen. If you have your manual, see if there are any oiling instructions and follow those using a Good Quality sewing machine oil (not the old brown stuff you probably current have in your sewing kit--it's old and should be thrown out). Sounds like maybe any oil it had has dried up and turned to glue. If so, you need to get that loosened up before the motor can have enough power to move things. If your machine is mechanical (not computerized), you can probably heat up the internal mechanisms with a hand-held hair dryer.

Singer 401A gears will not move. I can wind bobbins all day but the gears to sew are frozen they try to move but will not.

the gears or some part in the sewing machine could be damaged, I suggest having the machine checked to see what is wrong inside the machine hindering it from sewing.

My crankshaft has froze up

Hi, If you can get the top cover off, spray the whole shaft and moving parts with wd-40, let it sit for a few hours and then try it again. If it still does not move, spray it again and let it sit over night.
It should work. If not, you'll have to take to your local repair shop. But try the WD-40 first.
