SOURCE: Coffee maker brews too hot

The 1-4 setting makes the coffee extremely hot. If the 1-4 setting was not activated, make sure you are not using paper and permanent filters at the same time. If you are not using them at the same time, it is time to clean the coffee maker out with 2 cups vinegar and two cups water.

SOURCE: Coffee maker shuts off too soon after brewing.

Hello FloydBob, The Cuisinart DCC-1200 has the ability to program the auto-off function that keeps your coffee warmer plate on after brewing is complete.

The unit lets you select the time increments from zero up to 4 hours.

See page 6 of the attached manual for the full instructions for reprogramming the coffee maker.

To program the Variable Auto Off:
1. Turn the FUNCTION KNOB to the “Auto Off”
position. Press and hold the “Hour” button
for 2 seconds. The clock display will start
blinking.
2. Program the coffeemaker to shut off from
zero to four hours after brew cycle is
finished by using the “Hour” and “Minute”
push-buttons.

I figured you might also like to have a complete instruction/owners manual so you can have access for any other questions you might have about your coffee maker, in the future.

I hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

SOURCE: coffee leaks all over the counter every time

I had this problem after about a year of use. The thermal carafe lid had become clogged enough with coffee sludge (fine grounds/oil) and hard water deposits to slow the flow through the lid. I soaked the lid in a bowl of 2 cups hot soapy water + 2/3 cup white vinegar for a few hours, agitating the lid in the mixture every 1/2 hour or so.
Then, I rinsed the lid and packed baking soda in every opening and dropped it back into the mixture - hoping the fizzing action of the baking soda+vinegar would help loosen any remaining sludge.
I rinsed it again, and whacked it against the side of the sink for a final effort to loosen sludge. Repeated the baking soda + rinse + whacking a couple of times. No more problems.

In the future, I plan to do the soak at every Cleaning cycle/every couple of months.

Or, if you don't want to deal with it, replacement thermal carafe lids are available from Cuisinart for $6 + shipping.

SOURCE: Coffee overflows onto the counter from time to

I believe your problem is the filter basket holder is not seated correctly or the carafe is not completely inserted in the unit to push the brew pause lever up. The brew pause feature which stops the coffee from going into the carafe when you want a cup of coffee before the brew cycle is done. When you remove the carafe a spring lever stops the coffee from dripping into the carafe. When the carafe is inserted it must push the spring lever up to allow the coffee to flow into the carafe. If it is not the coffee will overflow and make a mess. The filter basket holder should be firmly seated in the unit so it will not have any play in it. Cuisinart recommends using a vinegar and water mixture but BrewRite Cleaner (Sodium Carbonate) available in the coffee section at Wallmart, Kamart and Target is fantastic. You can clean your carafe with BrewRite Cleaner and hot water by letting it soak a few minutes and rinsing. I will also clean your filter basket holder by soaking it as well and all your coffee residue will be gone with no scrubbing.

DCC-1200 leaks coffee onto carafe and warmer plate

My coffee pot was leaking over the carafe and onto the warmer. I found that this issue was caused by the carafe lid. The lid was not allowing coffee to flow into the pot fast enough. I removed the inner mechanism from the carafe lid (it pops off really easily) and just sit the lid on top of the pot while brewing, and no more leaks! After brewing, I put the mechanism back onto the lid and twist lid onto the pot.

Coffee spilling over the top , not dripping

The caraffe lid must be on the Coffee maker while making coffee.

The lid pushes a opens the hut-of valve in the filter.
If the lid is not on the caraffe, the valve will prevent coffee from dripping out of the filter.

This is to prevent coffee leaking on the lower carafe heating element when you remove the caraffe to quickly pour some coffee. the water accumulates while you do this, so if the machine is still brewing, you should put the carafe with lid back in the cofee maker, to release the accumulated liquid in the filter.

The water and coffee grinds sits in the filter, does not drip into the pot

Most modern coffee pots have a feature in them to keep you from spilling coffee all over the place when you want to take a cup of coffee before they finish brewing. It sounds like you are having some issues with yours.

Basically, the way they work is that there is some sort of gasket (rubber disk) that has a lever/spring mechanism that plugs the way out of the filter basket when there isn't a coffee pot under the filter basket. They are designed so that the lid of the coffee pot pushes up on part of the mechanism and forcing the little gasket open. (You can generally figure it out pretty easily by fiddling with it.) It sounds like you may not be assembling the lid on the pot completely (this model has a lid where the dome sticks up) or may be missing the lid all together. It's also possible that a piece of packing material may be clogging this or the gasket could be stuck shut, maybe with dried coffee.

One sign that the assembly is working properly is there is just a little bit of resistance (not very noticable) when you first start putting to pot in place and it makes a clicking/thunking noise when the pot fully seats.

Lid is sealed shut and water is not being drawn from resovoir

it sounds like the pod holder is clogged, it has only one small hole to let out water. open up the machine in the sink as it will spray due to the water pressure. try the other pod holder first. if it works check the other one by holding it up to the light. if it is clogged clean the first one by using a pin to clear the hole.

Coffee maker beeping

Is your grinder in and the lid down? My coffee maker (grind & brew) started beeping after I cleaned it and turned the left knob clockwise with the grinder still disassembled. There's a little button that is depressed when you close the lid with the grinder in there (I'd guess it's a safety feature). I pressed down that button, and the beeping went away.
