I have one photo that says "corrupted data." It will not let me download any of the other photos on the disk, and it says that this particular one is protected - won't turn off - and I am stuck.

Have you tried this CF card on your computer?
If this CF card can be read functionally on your computer, you'd better copy off all your stored data to another memory card or drive and format this CF card immediately to check whether it can still be used functionally as before. Otherwise, you have to replace it.
But, if this CF unfortunately also gets the same error on your computer, you'd better try to apply a CF photo recovery freeware to get all your stored data back successfully for free:
In fact, this freeware helped a lot as the camera memory card of my friend was mistakenly formatted. It finally restored all the needed data of my friend. So, I believe it will also help you a lot.
Try to read more information of this freeware here:
After experiencing these troubles, I hope you can learn a valuable lesson to back up everything important well all the time.

You'll need a CF reader/adaptor for your computer, and software such as this

Just type "recover CF card data" and you'll find a host of downloads.

The only thing I can think of is a card format. Do it once in the computer and once in the camera. After that do a factory reset for the camera settings then set the image quality to Large jpegs. Also try Googling the strange file extensions a see what info you can get.

I have an EOS Canon 400D digital SLR and my husband has bought me a Sony photo printer DDP-FP75 . I had wanted to be able to insert the memory card but it doesn't seem compatible. Can I print using the...

The two are not immediately compatible. The Canon EOS 400D uses a Compact Flash card. The Sony Photo Printer you have accepts SD and Memory Stick cards. Unfortunately, the CF card and SD card are very different.

The easiest solution I can think of would be for you to get an inexpensive card reader (make sure it accepts Compact Flash cards), attach it to your PC and then use it to read the CF card from your Canon EOS -- and print to your Sony printer.

I hope this helps. If it does, please rate the solution offered. My goal is always FixYa or Helpful, never TFT or IA. Regards,

Check the card isn't set to write protect mode with the switch on it.
I will assume the picture is viewable through the LCD and everything else appears to be normal.

Lost pictures on scandisk ultra II computer flash............

Don't fret, it's likely the pictures are still there. Just take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. Here's some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you're looking for:

You will need to use a flash card reader with this software. If you don't have one, get one, they're cheap:

Cannot transfer images from my Canon DSLR XTi to my computer

Having same issue as above - I thought it was my cable so I ordered a new one. The camera attempts to 'speak' to the pc - and then the Windows box pops up not recognising the USB installed device....I also uninstalled and reloaded the Canon software (had camera for 18 months and only started this rubbish a month back) - was about to re-laod my entire PC - thankfully I saw it was not only me.

Will send mine in for a Firmware update / service.
