Question about Pc America Restaurant Pro Express

RPE 12 Networked locks up durring high traffic in my restaurant

I have 2 PCs, One is the server and the other is the Kitchen PC. My tables are in a constant locked status. I cannot remove the table or close it with out going into the SQL server. Is this a problem with the software or my wireless network. Both systems are online and can access the internet.

I think its BS, but pca has told me numerous times they dont support wireless, so it may be this is why!

I have RPE software for my table service restaurant when a server swipes their card the entire floor plan comes up with information for each table (tbl#,name,#ppl,$). I want just tbl # & server name

ask the maker
seems this is POS software,point of sale
we are not a company that sells POS or anything but bs.
nor have facts on this.
why not ask them for support.

RPE Won't start. Can't even get to the credentials/login screen. Database exceptions.

Check to see if the SQL service is running. Go to Control Panel, Admin Tools, Services. These three should be started. SQL Server (PCAMERICA), SQL Server Browser, and SQL Server VSS Writer. It sounds like you are having a connect problem to your database. Did you do any RPE upgrades or conversions? Since you let system set for several months, I assume your free tech support has expired. If not, contact them today. Don't wait. Otherwise, you need tech help. I'm available at a much more reasonable rate than PCAmerica.

I have pro express 12 in my restaurant, the problems comes when we try to split tickets some times it works fine but most of the time it locks up the computer and then have to restart, after restart we are...

I'll assume that you are beyond the 3 months of free tech support. Have you tried reloading RPE? This will sometimes cure odd problems such as this. Are you using a server with workstations? You may need to reload SQL on the server. Always do a backup before attempting this.

I setup a POS for a chain restaurant. I get the PC America with the DELL advertise. This is what I understand. The Main office: PC w/ The RPE Enterprise version. The remote site ( Restaurant) : PC w/ RPE...

I'm not quite sure what your problem is. Do you need help with the entire setup? You should have 3 months of free tech help from PCAmerica if you just purchased/registered this software.

My second computer on my system wont connect to RPE and give me an error 26 saying it cannot connect to the server and the account is invalid

See if you can ping the server. This is a must. Second, check firewall settings on both PCs. This includes any antivirus software firewalls. A recent update could trigger a resetting of the firewall. If you need additional help, I'm available.

How can we setup the kitchen printer to print larger fonts?

Check your owners manual on how to change the default font size using the printer's buttons. I don't believe there is any adjustment in RPE to do this. Be aware that two things can happen. If you ever reset printer, you will need to adjust font size again. The amount of letters per line of description will be reduced and you may need to revize your description line.
RPE can help by providing you with a second description line for your kitchen printer that is different from your receipt printer. To access this feature, go to the SETUP screen, RESTAURANT FEATURES tab, and set the 'Substitute second description to kitchen printer' option.

Restaurant Pro Express - Shared Printer - wierd scenario

Delete printer from PC it is not connected to(PC2). Make sure you can print a test page in windows from PC it is connected to(PC1). Then check on sharing. Make sure the share name is the same as what 3rd PC is looking for(PC3). Print to printer from PC3. On PC2, set up and install as a network printer. If all PCs can print to kitchen printer from windows, then you should not have to make any changes in RPE.
Also, if you cloned everything including the RPE folders, you may not be syncing properly. Check by changing the price of something and saving. It should change on the other stations also. Make this test from each station.

Your getting a connection successful because your looking at the localhost. The server would be the network name of your server. And the password is case sensitive and is pcAmer1ca. (Note the number 1, not an i)

As far as I know, there is no way to change the font settings in CRE (I hope you mean RPE). But, you may be able to change the default settings in the printer itself to get larger print. I am available for tech help if you need it, but you should have 3 months free support from PCAmerica with the purchase. I also do custom menu support for RPE.
