Question about Frigidaire Model: FSC23F7HSB
The freezer has stopped being cold enough and large deposits of ice have been forming from a cut thur hole in the inside back of freezer where you can see some part of the coolant system. I have been scrapping off the ice as it acumulates, but it won't stay cood enough anymore to keep the food at a safe temp, besides unplugging it and defrost which I am doing now, what else could i check/ be the problem? thanks ;)
Your defrost heater isn't working .....could be that its burnt out or not getting supply from the defrost timer or it could be simply that its cracked since many are made of lime glass and when ice falls on it durning defrost cycles it cracks the glass .... to fix it , defrost the unit and take out the screws at the back ... there you will see a coil of aluminium and at the bottom of it you should see the heating element ... there are two wires coming out of it ,one on either sides ....its normally bout a foot or so depending on the size of the fridge......
