Unable to reconnect to the internet after a system recovery
I have a compaq presario v2000. A system recovery was completed and now i have no internet connection. i have attempted to reconnect with a new setup wizard with no luck.....I have checked all ethernet connections to insure that a cable was not bad....all are in good order.....i have run a chkdsk with no change. As a novice operator, I am at my limit and need help to either find the problem or junk it!!!!!

Try restarting your router and your notebook at the same time, after you set up your wireless again, then go into Internet Options in Control Panel and go to the advanced tab and reset to default settings. You do this by going to the bottom of the page on the advanced tab and clicking the reset button, when it asks if you are sure you want to reset, then hit reset again.

Back up to your external hard drive all of the items on the computer's hard drive that you would like to keep. The hard drive will be completely erased during the recovery process. Open the "Start" menu and then click "Shut Down" to turn off the computer. Allow the computer to completely shut down. Press the power button to turn on the computer and then press the "F11" button when "Press <F11> for recovery" is displayed on the bottom of the screen. Select "Recovery Manager" from the utility screen. Click "Advanced Options" and then select "System recovery." Click "Next" to proceed. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the recovery process.
