2001 audi a4 CEL came on
hello i have a problem with my 2001 audi a4 1.8t quattro ...my engine check light came on flashing and the car run really rough and engine shaking like 1 of the cylinder is misfiring,,,the strange part is sometime it stays on steady and the car runs fine...very strange i had 3 coils change but 1 i havent change yet. could that last coil i havent change causing this problem ,,,i borrow obd2 from friend had code reading a misfire on cylinder #4 ,o2 sensor,ignition module and thermostat sensor ....so which of this is causing the misfire or CEL coming on.. i do not want to go to the dealer to fix .dealer will clean me dry...please i need some advised on what i should do.

Flashing CEL with rough idle indicates a misfire. Most commonly, this is due to a coil going bad. First, erase the codes and try swapping the suspected bad coil with a good coil in another cylinder to see if the misfire (and code) follow the suspected bad coil. If yes, replace the suspected coil. The other codes are likely other problems. I believe that the 1.8t had issues with bad coolant temperature sensors, so that might cause some of the other codes and/or the stalling.
