I have a mecc alte Mr 1 generator I'm producing 240 volts but I can't find a neutral so I can use 120 volts.where does the neutral come from

as 240 volts is single phase , it will not be possible to reduce the power by cutting across a neutral wire ( 240 volt power out and 240 volt neutral return That is ac power ) to do what you want to do you will need a 3 phase generator so that you can jump across a phase to get lower power

Want to add 240volt outlet to generator

You CANNOT do this, USA 240V is derived from a poly phase scenario, IE 120V line to neautral and 240V line to line, UK 240V is derived from 1 line to neutral it will not work unless you power a transformer

Holnda ax 800 generator does not supply 240 volt

Your generator was not designed, nor capable of, supplying 240vac outputs. 120volt only.

How to produce 240 volts to my 6250powermate coleman generator

This unit should already be equipped to put out 240. If it does not, take it to a qualified generator repair ship for testing.

Coleman 6250 gen

Assuming there is nothing wrong with the generator, I'm not sure what the Amp rating on a 1 hp compressor is, but starting currents can be 5 or more times the rated current, especially for starting heavy loads like compressors. While the motor only needs it for a short time, if it doesn't get it, it ain't gonna start. If you really need to run this compressor off this generator, one possible solution is to see if the compressor motor has connections inside to wire it for 240 volt operation. I realize in theory you should have available the same full power rating from the generator at 120 v and 240 v. However, many times a motor will still start more easily on 240 than 120, for the same reason that automobile starters went from 6 volt to 12 volt. If you do change the voltage to 240, BE SURE TO CHANGE THE POWER CORD AND PLUG ON THE COMPRESSOR!!!

As a side note, I have one of these generators I purchased as "refurbished", and it is flakey. It works, mostly, but not exactly right. I'm working on it. So anything COULD be wrong.
