Question about Panasonic Viera TH-42PX80U Plasma TV

The ir receiver is not working for the remote

I have a second remote already, both with fresh batteries, and the tv is not responding...i'm assuming then that there is something wrong with the ir receiver. This issue has arisen intermittently indicating i-don't-know-what, but it appears significant.

The receiver could be dirty, blocked by glass, or exposed to bright light.

Vizio tv remote not responding

possibly bad batteries in the transmitter. could also be a blocked IR receiver at the TV(do you have something in front of the IR receiver in the TV?) last resort could be either IR receiver PCB or the MAIN PCB.

TV IS NOT RESPONDING TO REMOTE. I'VE CHANGED THE BATTERIES AND HAVE TRIED OTHER SAMSUNG REMOTES THAT WORK ON MY OTHER TVS. ANY SUGGESTIONS...

Sounds like problem is with TV. Make sure the remote sensor on the TV is not blocked, it is located at the lower right part of the front of the TV.

The up button on my dish remote is not working. I have to push real hard to get it to move upwards on the channels.

Assuming you have fresh batteries and nothing is blocking the remote from communicating with the IR eyes on the receiver than you need a new remote most likely.

Thanks for using Fix Ya.com.

The remote just seems to have worn out, only switshes on when remote is right up against tv set

There are couple things to look at here. Assuming your batteries are fresh, make sure the mirror behind your screen isnt full of dust and film. The IR has to bounce off the mirror to the IR receiver and a film covered mirror will affect that. While you are checking that, also check the IR receiver itself and dust it off. This usually sits close to the lens.
Next, to actually check the function of your remote, all you need is your cell phone. Look at your IR eye(emitter) of your remote thru your cell phone camera and hit the buttons a few times. You should see a light everytime you press a button. Cannot see this with the naked eye.
Good luck!

DishNetwork IR Remote Control Problem

First the only way the 6.3 will work is if it has the green number 1 on the tab facing you. Assuming this is the case you will need a new remote. This primarily is the remote for the second room away from the receiver. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

Remote works intermittently

Hi!

Unfortuntately, you and many others have this problem. I will point you in the direction of two "fixes" I have found.

Fix 1 is from Kenwood themselves, per the following quote:first try replacing the batteries if you haven't already. If that doesn't help, try resetting the receiver. Simply unplug the receiver, then press and hold the power button on the receiver while you plug it back in. Turn the unit on, and the display should say 87.50 to confirm the reset. If the remote still does not work, use a digital camera as an eye, face it towards the IR of the remote control. Depress any of the remotes buttons; you should see IR flash each time a button is pressed. If not then the problem is with the remote. If the remote works fine, then the problem is with the receiver. In order to determine the cause of the problem, I suggest you take the defective unit to a Kenwood authorized service center for evaluation. You can find information for authorized service centers in your area by visiting our website at www.kenwoodusa.com.

The second fix involves some very simple soldering, and has been endorsed by many as the solution:

I hope this helps. Good luck and please let me know if this solves your problem!

IR reciever in my Magnavox 15MF400T/37 does not respond to the remote.

You basically have to take the tv apart backward to get to the front. Start with the back panel unscrew all the screws. Then you will see the internals. IR sensor should be botton left side if you looking down on it.

TV won't respond to remote(s)

I don't know of any adjustments for the IR receiver but the receiver itself could have gone bad or something may be blocking the IR lens not letting the IR signal get through. Maybe (but unusual) there may be a cold solder joint in the IR circuit. Sometimes dust will collect on the inside of the IR lens causing this problem. You can verify the operation of your remotes by holding them close to an AM radio receiver and pushing the buttons. You'll hear a popping sound through the radio speaker whenever a button is pushed. You may have to tune the radio up or down the band to pick up the remote's signal. Stargazer
