What should I check to trouble shoot a Eureka 6865 smart vac making very loud whirring noise? Filter and bag are clean. Hose is unblocked.

Hi, it's Jim from Crucial Vacuum!

I'd say at this point if you've checked your bag, filter and hoses it may be time to check your brush roll and belt. These two fast moving parts, when loose, damaged or just in need of replacement may occasionally give off an odd noise.

Turn the power wand over to expose the base plate that covers the brush roller. The power wand can get dirty and collect debris in the brush roller over time. The grinding noise may be something stuck in the brush roller, causing it to hit the edges when the vacuum is operating. Removing obstructions and cleaning dirt and debris collected over time should allow the vacuum to operate quieter. Unscrew the base plate cover with a Phillips head screwdriver. Lift out the brush roller and belt. Cut away any obstructions, such as string, hair or rubber bands, from the brush roller. Wipe the brush roller and belt with a damp rag to remove any dirt and allow them to air-dry. Wipe down the brush roller housing and inside the base plate with the damp rag. Any noticeable difference now once it's dried and turned on?

the brush roller cracked in half

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. If your brushroll is cracked in the middle, 1st we need to know the brand name and model # of the vacuum that you are trying to replace the brushroll on. Then you can contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area and they can sell you a new brushroll for the particular model, if not call the part s dept of the brand name such as: or and they will ship you out a new brushroll. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Bissell Lift Off Broken Belt and Brush Roller

I had the same problem. I found that the brush actually melted to the end cap (the one with the square/ovalish end). I was able to pull it off with some force and applied some WD-40, but that only worked for one more use. The brush has again melted to the end cap and it is too deformed to try and fix. I suppose I will have to search for a new brush, but this model obviously has some innate flaws.

I need a "Bearing Assembly" for roller brush 61445-1,I Have a GE 106575

Probably should just go to a repair shop and they should be able to order one for you, that is if they are available by themselfs. Or if you have a store where you live that sells vacuum parts, you could go there.

*&^%&^ Belt won't stay on

Hi Ecomama,

Check your Brush, it may not be rolling freely.  I had to clean string and hair and fiber out from ar0und the ends to get the brush to roll  freely.  This will cause the belt to get hot and come off.  just clean out the Brush ends.
