Dirt or dust accumulation can retard the gear mechanism. If you get Canned Air at WalMart, blow out all open areas and see if you can dislodge the material collected inside.

I cannot retract the lens back to my Rollei 35 se

Your question seems to be mis-categorized under slide projectors, if you are asking about Rollei 35 SE camera, the lens will only retract if you cock the shutter with the wind lever, then press the button next to the shutter release and rotate the lens a few degrees.

Lift gate tray

No. The slide tray should rotate when the forward or reverse buttons are pushed. Slides are not required for correct actuation of the tray. Before attempting any adjustment, try a few different trays (it may be a tray issue!). A 140-slide tray will be much tougher to get correct movement from than with a 80-slide tray on an older slide projector.... The 140 tray pushes the interface specification between a tray & a projector to the max.

Can I advance my slide tray manually?

A Kodak Carousel 600 has no Forward/Reverse buttons for tray movement. The only way to advance the tray with the slide change mechanism is by LIGHTLY depressing the SELECT bar. To manually advance the tray, push and hold the SELECT bar down fully. While holding the SELECT bar, you should be able to rotate the tray by hand. Good Luck!! Jim

Dell 5100mp projector fan is quiet when doing presentations on table top, but makes noise when ceiling mounted for home theatre. Noise get better after 20-30 minutes, but is just as noisy next time i...

turn it on when sitting on a table right side up. If possible, take the cover off and support carefully nearby the unit. Then slowly rotate the unit upside down and notice when the noise starts to get worse. Have a look at the fan area and see if there is anything that's causing the fan to make a worse noise. perhaps the bearings are getting worn out or something's not as titgh and vibration is being amplified by the fan unit.

The slide advance on my Kodak Carousel 750 starts as soon as the machine is turned on with viewing lasting about 1/3 of a second. You can no longer manually or by remote, advance or reverse the slides at...

There are 2 contacts in the slide change mechanism that control projector cycling. One rotates 360 degrees for every slide change, the other traps the rotating contact and holds it until the forward or reverse buttons are pushed again.
Given the age of the projector, my guess is that one of the 2 contacts are burned off, causing the projector to continuous cycle.
You may be able to gently(!) bend the "J"-shaped contact so that it once again stops the straight contact that rotates 360 degrees per cycle. This is a risky (and temporary) fix.
There are still dealers that are trained to make this repair. There is also a dealer online (www, that stocks many projector parts.
But it may be more cost-effective to shop for a gently used projector online ( is a good place to start).
Good Luck !!

We have a carousel and the tray will not rotate - could you give us a hint of what to try. We would like to view so we can move the slides to DVD. Thanks

First of all: Does this happen with every tray? If not, check the suspect tray's locking ring to make sure it's tight & secure. Then turn the tray upside down & make sure the bottom plate is in the "zero" position. Try the tray again.

Next: Is the motor running? Can you feel air being exhausted from the rear of the projector? If so, try cycling the projector with no tray on it. If the levers move in the cut-out on the top of the housing, try pushing the "Reverse" button for at least 4 cycles (this clears a cycle jam) and then try to place the tray on the projector & cycle it. If you still have no luck, then it's time to take the projector to an Authorized Repair Dealer - the projector requires servicing.

I'm having a problem loading a tray onto my kodak carousel 4400 slide projector any solutions?

First, with the tray off the projector, cycle the projector several times in forward and then in reverse. Next, check to make sure the locking ring on the top on the slide tray is LOCKED ON TIGHT. Then turn the tray upside down. On a 140 Slide tray there is an index notch. On the metal plate there is a index hole. Gently release the metal spring of the tray latch and rotate the metal plate until the notch and hole line up. Now the tray should drop on the projector and index properly.

Automatic slide changer is stuck in "on" position - cannot manually advance slides - it is a Kodak projector. The projector keeps advancing the slides in rapid succession without the manual "forward"...

The problem is continuous cycle (like you don't know that already...). It indicates that an adjustment to the cycle contact is necessary. To open the projector, first unplug it and remove the lamp module from the rear of the projector. Turn the projector upside down. Remove the 6 - T15 TORX screws from the bottom (5 around the perimeter and one in the channel next to the cord wrap). CAREFULLY pull the bottom off (the power wires connect the bottom cover & top together!!). Once you have it open, leave the projector upside down, put on your safety glasses & plug the projector into the wall. At the center of the projector you should see a hub rotating about every second or so. Above it you should see a "J"-shaped wire. See the attached illustration.
You will have to, in repeated steps, unplug the projector, bend the "J"-shaped wire GENTLY & SLIGHTLY, plug the projector back in and cycle it a few times. Check for the position of the "J"-shaped wire to the pad, and GENTLY repeat until you achieve the position shown in the illustration.
Good Luck !!jauburn_7.jpg
