Download printer software (by 11 users)

Hello,

If you are using Windows Vista, then please try below process:

1. Verify that the printer is turned on.
2. Connect the printer to the computer. And wait for few moments it will pop up a new window.
3. A Your devices are ready to use window might display on the screen. If the window displays and does not close automatically, close the window.
4. Print a test page to verify that the printer is working correctly.

I hope that this will resolve the issue if you are using Windows Vista.

For your convienience I would like to provide all the links that you use to download the Printer software and install it.

For Windows 2000,  Please try to open below link .

Once if you open the link, please locate to the "Step 3: Obtain software: " in the web page, and then click on Download Only. It starts download of software , please save it on your Computer.

Please make sure that Printer is disconnected from Computer when you try to download Printer software. Once if you are done with download, please Connect to Printer and then Power ON printer. and then Double click the downloaded File that you saved on your computer. And select Run, this install the Printer software.

However, if you experience any issue with installation process you can use alternate driver that is UNIVERSAL PRINTER DRIVER that helps and works , makes printer to print.

ALTERNATE DRIVER INSTALLATION METHOD( UNIVERSAL METHOD):

NOTE***-- Below steps are applicable only for WINDOWS 2000, and WINDOWS XP.

Note :
------

Make sure Printer is connected to computer firmly  and Make sure Printer is turn ON.

Steps are Windows XP/2000:
--------------------------

1. Please click Start >>> Control Panel >>> Printers and other Hardware >>> Printers and Faxes.

2. Click the 'Add Printer' icon on the left hand side.
   The 'Add Printer' dialog box opens.

3. Click 'Next' button on the 'Welcome to the Add Printer' Wizard dialog box.

4.Select 'Local printer' in the Local or Network Printer dialog box.
  UNCHECK   'Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer' option.
  and then Click 'Next' button.

5. Select 'USB001' or 'USB virtual printer port( if you are using USB CABLE TO CONNECT THE PRINTER TO COMPUTER) else if you are using parallel cable then please select  'LPT1' from the list of Ports    and click 'Next' button.

6. Now, select HP (not Hewlett-Packard) from the list of manufacturers, select 'Deskjet 550c' from  the list of Printer models  and click 'Next' button.

7. The Printer name will be highlighted on the next window.
   Click 'Next' button

8. It ask for the Printer name (LEAVE IT AS DEFAULT)
   Click 'Yes' for making the printer default.
   Click 'Next' button.

9. The Printer Sharing dialog box will open.
   Click 'Next' button.

10. The Print Test Page box appears.
    Select 'Yes' to print a test page.
    Click 'Finish' button to complete the installation.

This should install the alternate printer driver successfully.
