SOURCE: Blade stops in middle of cut, slipping motor rpm

Going on the information aas I read it, the blade is slipping, meaning that it is not tightened enough or a spacer in the hole in the blade is too thick. Make sure that the wall plug is pulled out before attempting any work on the blade.

Adjusting the miter angle involves two cast surfaces sliding against each other. If those surfaces have some irregularities, high spots on the two surfaces will bind against each other. You may have to disassemble the rotating table from the base and do some filing or grinding.

This saw has locking indexing to set bevels for 52 degree crown molding the other common crown angle is 45 degrees, the bevel setting needs to be other than where the locking indexs are for the 52 degree crown. Problem is that the bevel lock does not securely hold at the bevel angle required. Is their an adjustment to get this lock to hold tighter.

I have been in the same situation in the past, with a mastercraft miter saw to a point of using playing cards to get that nice tight miter joint. placing the cards between the fence and the piece i was trying to miter.Rioby makes mastercraft all thought they are a good saw they have their limits to the precisions of their cuts. good for fences, decks, stuctural framing ect, were a degree two is not a big thing, but when making furniture or interior trim work or picture frames or hobby craft you need to buy a good pro saw like a dewalt or bosh sliding compoud miter saw they may cost more **** their worth the money they are very precise and will last a life time if taken care of .It will be worth the money when you get that perfect cut every time you use it,it will put the JOY and fun back in your projects and not to mention qualaty in your master pieces.

To adjust the bevel, (blade angle), loosen the black lever at the back of the unit, tilt the blade housing using the handle (this may require a fair bit of force) until the arrow on the scale is at 45 degrees then tighten the black lever.

Looking for help scouts have a carpentry merit badge from the 50s they talk about using a BEVEl and a Miter tools can you help

The bevel is an angle fiding tool. it consists of a wooden section about 4" long with a swivel bolt at one end connected to a slotted metal blade (similar to a 1 foot steel ruler). The bolt has a wing nut and bolt to allow loosenig to allow the blade to rotate and slide to the required angle where it is locked into position using the wing nut.
The mitre is a wooden block with slots cut into it at pre determined angles. ie 45 degrees. When cutting a mitre joint the wood is placed against the block and the saw follows the line of the slot cutting the 45 degree angle.
Hope this makes sense and good luck

The fence may be getting in the way of the arm when you adjust the trunion assembly fully to one side or the other for bevel cutting. Adjusting the fence all the way out away from the trunion assy. should allow full 45deg adjustment. If this is not the case, it could be--even though its only slightly used--that there is sawdust built up enough in the housing to keep the arm from fully adjusting.

While the latch COULD indeed be faulty, it generally should always be tightened/locked so that the trunion assy. is fimly "locked" before cutting as this is designed to keep the saw from shifting mid cut, causing binding, uneven cuts, broken blades, seized bearings, etc.
