I've an Orchid USB Flash device(Pen Drive). Whenevr I try to copy something to the drive or try to format it, an error occurs stating that the disc is write-protected, remove write protection or use another disc. Please help, otherwise I'll lose a 1 GB pendrive. This is important to say that it doesnt have any switch or button and it also doesnt support low-level formatting.

Far too often these little things have an almost invisible read/write protect button on them. Look carefully, over the entire surface of the USB Flash Drive. You might have this switch turned to Write Protect, which means there is nothing you can do, until you turn it the other way, and allow the device to be written to.
if u format ur pen drive. then use this step -
Check out the registry under:
1)click on start button 2)clik on run dialog box 3)type regedit 4) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies.
The value 'WriteProtect' should be absent or set to '0' and when you try to format it you have to format it as FAT16
