Question about Refrigerators

GE Side by Side Model: GSH25VGRECC Refrig.

Water and ice part of refrig began to not dispense regularly and was an intermittent problem. Then shortly thereafter within a few days the LED temperature setting lights began to go out at times. Within a few more days the entire unit stopped working. The lights will come on when opening the unit doors, but it does not dispense water or ice and neither side of the unit cools or freezes. The unit is about 2 years old. When plugged in a clicking noise at regular intervals, say every few seconds is heard coming from a relay at the main control board located to the rear of the unit. Each time the unit clicks the fan (compressor) moves a tiny distance but will not turn as if it was operating. I suspect that maybe the main control board is bad due to the number of things effected including the cooling, freezer, lights and dispenser unit. Any help or direction would be most appreciated. I am in Hawaii on the Big Island and we have lots of humidity and such. The unit has been indoors at all times though.

Thanks and Aloha!

Thanks for the reply. The unit has been unplugged for about a week now and clear of ice entirely. When the unit is plugged back in the clicking noise, coming from a relay on the electronic board to the rear of the unit, will start a regular click which causes the compressor fan blade to turn a fraction of an inch with each click. The fan blade never starts up though.

    Thanks!

I had luck with a board with a clicking relay by replacing capacitors C29 and C30, which had bulged tops. Bravo, fridge works!

The capacitors are too close to diode D20, which is on a heatsink that can get pretty hot, so it's best to mount the new capacitors with wire extentions to an available space on the control board.

Your board needs to be replaced, the clicking you hair are the relays. you can try with your fridge on, turn the dials to 0, wait a few seconds then turn them up again.

the clicking sounds are the relays off of your control board which needs replacing. in th emean time try turning your control dials to 0 with the fridge running wait a few seconds then turn them up again.

Russ -

I have exactly the same problems with my GE GSH25JSRF Fridge (fan clicks in back intermittently, no water or ice dispensing). Did you end up replacing the main board?

The clicking sounds like your ice dispenser might simply be a frozen block. Have you tried clearing out the ice dispenser with an ice pick?

Ice maker stopped working. the water and ice dispense from the door, but it does not make any NEW ice...

The water tube to the icemaker inside the refrig is frozen up. Thaw out with your hair dryer. To make sure the tube is clear. Shut of the water to the refrig, disconnect the inlet water line to the icemaker. Insert a flexable through the connector fitting, I used a zip tie. The flexable item should go all the way to the icemaker

Solution #2 Replace the "water inlet valve" at bottom back right of refrig. Easy To Do.

Water dispenser doesn't work, side by side, model # GSS22JEPA BB

At the bottom of the freezer door ( remove the kick plate ) , there will be a water line . Follow this line , about 6 " to a connector . Push in on the white ring and pull out the line , at the same time . Activate the water dispensor pad and see if water flows from the line under the refrig . If it does , then the line in the door is frozen . Either raise the freezer temp for several days , so the line in the door will thaw , or , I have heard using an air tank will blow the ice out of the line in the door . If no water comes from the line under the refrig , while activating the pad , then replace the water valve , behind the refrig , the piece the wall water line connects to on the refrig .

Your refrig display , has lost communication , with the main control board , located , behind the refrig , behind an 8 " X 10 " panel . The control board , is easily replaceable , with 7 or 8 plugs , attached to it . The part number , for your board , is WR55X10942 . It runs about $150.00 .

The same thing happened to me. If you pull the refrigerator out and remove the large silver panel, you will see the water lines on the left. The line going to the ice maker was fine, but the line going to the water dispenser was split. You may have the same issue.
