Question about Frigidaire ATF6000ES Front Load Washer

1 Answer

I also have grease marks on my clothing after a wash. My old washer did this same thing and it was a broken seal. We had to get a new washer. That was a top loader. This new one is a front loader and is only 8 months old. Could it be the same thing or is it the plumbing?

Probably a broken seal. If you just brought it have a service man come out and look at it.

Good morning, I'm about to install a new gearcase into my Whirlpool direct drive washer. After removing the old gearcase I noticed some grease inside the drive tube top rubber seal. I don't know if...

no place to add and grease/oil

THE IMPORTANT THING THOSE IS TO OPEN THE VENT HOLE ON NEW TRANSMISSION AS STATED ON THE NEW PART BE SURE TO POKE A HOLE ON THERE

The grease you see now should be cleaned or it may permanetly stain your clothing...it was from oil leakage from the old trans/gearcase

Kenmore 80 Series washer leaves brown grease marks

Remove the agitator and check the shaft seal underneath the plastic drive block at the top of the shaft. Move the shaft in different directions to check the condition of the top bearing. If none or very slight, replace the seal at the top of the shaft supporting post. Clean any grease that is outside of the seal when you are done. Be sure to not damage the seal surface on the shaft when removing/replacing the seal and pre-grease the new seal's inner lip before installing.

When we run the wash, black marks appear on some clothes. No pens or foreign objects are in the washer.

It can either be the rubber seal around the washer door or the bearings (normally sealed) for the tub may be leaking and getting grease into the tub. I think usually the bearing grease is brown in color. For some reason, as the rubber seals deteriorate, they tend to mark up clothes. At least that has been my experience. You may try wiping them down with some sort of cleaner (fantastic, greased lightening, etc) and see if that helps any.

MY GE WASHER PUTS WHAT LOOKS LIKE GREASE SPOTS ON MY CLOTHES.

sounds like the transmission seal has started to leak. yes the transmission, all washers have these and at a certian age and usage the seals will start to leak grease into the drum. if this is an older unit this is not uncommon.
1) you can try to replace the seal
2) or you can buy another washer
service repairs for this cost almost as much as a new washer

Gray marks on light colored clothes

That is exactly what it is, grease. It is coming from the transmission past a worn or defective seal usually the transmission will have to be replaced.

Black mark on clothes after washed in Maytag top load washer.

Check and make sure the seal at the bottom of the washer is not wore out. Alot of times you will get grease from the bearins and drum assembly if this wears out.
